It's a safe, quaint, town that's fairly easy to get to from Lomé. 1-2 days is also more than enough to see everything in the town and surrounds. There aren't many tarred roads, and moving around on foot can be challenging, especially at night. Either hire a car or have a driver that is available throughout your trip. Some advice: don't rely on google maps, and rather ask locals for directions. I had an INCREDIBLE meal at a local restaurant called 'Chez Deborah'. Again, ask for directions. It is not where the Google Maps pin says it is. The views from the mountains and forest are truly spectacular, and the hike is easy. However, you absolutely need a guide to visit the (dilapidated) castle and waterfalls nearby. It's impossible (and not allowed) to self-guide.
