Khon Kaen is my waypoint for journeys to the north not accessible by train, so I don't see the sights (like bouldering). Khon Kaen, compared to frenetic and chaotic Bangkok, seems sober, even sedate. However, Khon Kaen grows on you, because it has everything you could want, and is manageable. No traffic jams! Getting around is easy with tuk tuks (pricey), song taews, a municipal bus system, and Grab. My favorite restaurant is a solid and reliable "boiled rice place," at Pimphasut and Clang Muang, open 'til 1:00am: 8/1 ถ.กลางเมือง ในเมือง Mueang Khon Kaen District, Khon Kaen 40000, Thailand

For us it is really nice since we have family living there.
For us it is really nice since we have family living there. Visiting the Khon Kaen museum is well worth a trip to see the history of Khon Kaen and the people living there throughout history. We recommend using Grab for getting around Khon Kaen since it is cheap and working really well. If you want to drive around and explore more of Khon Kaen and Isaan renting a car is well worth it. We rented a car for a for a couple of days one week and for our last week and went on several trips that we enjoyed. Visiting different markets is well worth it and the Saturday market on the road close to Romantic Inn is a nice way to spend the evening with good food and friendly people.Mattias - 8.0Scored 8.0

Local bars are "interesting". Don't go if you only seek female company for the night. 😊😊 Town was clean and tidy and appeared safe. The local covered food market is huge and very well priced. Oysters were 100bht for 3 dozen with condiments. And beautiful. Singha Golf Course is excellent. It is a busy city. Local nightclubs are busy with a strong student presence.

I have been to Khon Kaen many times over many years , and have seen this town grow from a small town to a large busy .modern town. Khon Kaen , has many places to see and even more great places to eat , being a university town it is very vibrant and the town seems to reflect that. Interesting convenient city in Issan. Come here in the dry season. Very nice walks near local lakes. Interesting local food. Good party vibe. Airport and train station easily accessed from city center. Good choice of budget and also high end hotels. Local people tend to be quite noisy. Chinese influence is obvious and adds to the quality of the city.

It seems as though they couldn’t do enough for you. The buffet breakfast was excellent and great value for money. The location was fairly central and an easy walk to the Central Festival shopping mall. I think the beds could do with an upgrade. Mine was a single. I found it hard and sagged in the middle and felt a little lumpy. It wasn’t horrible mind you but for that luxury feel that the Pullman experience delivers, the beds need looking at
