Our stay at Taroko B&B was great. It is just outside of Taroko Gorge with a nice ocean view. Keep in mind that you cannot swim at this location, but the view is lovely. The owners were friendly and accommodating. They did our laundry for free, which was wonderful. We had a room on the 3rd floor (walkup only) with a huge deck. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck and watching the ocean. Our room was clean and large. The AC worked great. The water pressure was nice. Breakfast was delicious. We were there when the earthquate struck and the building held up well with no damage. The owners helped make a stressful situation better. If you are staying at this location it is good to have a vehicle, as there is not a lot to see or do in the town. We ended up driving to Hualien for dinner.

Very spacious and well appointed room. Parents of host were fantastic even though they spoke very little English. They picked me up from train station, took me to a restaurant and dropped me off.

It's a tiny town with fewer restaurants to choose from comparing to HuaLiang which is 18KM south of XinCheng. But, this town is also 18 KM closer to Taroko National Park. I highly recommend "Memories Homestay" for your overnight accommodation. It has the best CP value.

Xincheng is the closest station to Taroko National Park and...
Xincheng is the closest station to Taroko National Park and was a great place to stay. We were mere minutes from the beach and views of the popular cliffs. The location was not overly developed and we were happy to get away from the noise and crowded places in the bigger cities.
Taroko National Park is a treasure and you can tell that it has all been carefully planned out. Every bus stop has information and toilets nearby. The staff were helpful and willing to go the extra mile when we were confused. The buses run about every hour and everything was clearly marked. It was all so organized and we appreciated that so much.

It was close to the Taroko Gorge so it was excellent location for where we wanted to go. Not easy for us to walk around to find a place to eat as we are over 70 and over 60. Thank God there is a seven eleven shop/family mart near by and we ended buy food from there for our dinner. The next night we just ate at the hotel. There is not much choice. Otherwise you have to go to the city about 25 mins away in the taxi to eat. Not keen to do that.

Great train station with easy access to Taroko National Park...
Great train station with easy access to Taroko National Park and a delicious lemon juice shop. Amazing hiking and breathtaking views in the park and at the cliffs. BUT there is nothing else to do here. Very few restaurants, a 7-11, that’s about it for evening activities.
The owner of this establishment was very kind and helpful. Even though he did not speak English, communication was easy via google translate. He showed a lot of attention to detail and even invited us for some snacks. The room was spacious and clean and there was a common room with a laundry machine and some complimentary tea and coffee. The building is a normal taiwanese residential building, not a hotel, so the windows and insulation are taiwanese standard. This was no problem for us, as the area is usually quiet at night.
We stayed two nights. My partner and I and a colleague with two kids. The rooms were spacious, clean and with excellent views. The beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were also clean and modern. In general, the place had a relatively new feel. The accommodation has a small pool and a big indoor play area for kids, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Although there was a bit of a language barrier (little english spoken!) the owners were also very friendly and welcoming! This is clearly a home-stay/bed and breakfast, not a hotel!
It was few kms away from Taroko national park. The stay was comfortable. We enjoyed it. The bunk beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly and treated us well. The bathroom, bunk beds and dining place were so clean and had hot water connection. We could make many acquaintances with travellers who stayed along. The place has good and cheap restaurants, 7/11 and family mart nearby. The railway station Xincheng was 1.5 kms away.
Overall a nice place to stay if you plan to visit taroko national park.
We had a great stay, the room was clean, comfortable and the staff was super friendly (Had to use google translate a few times, but he was super nice and took the time to make sure we understood him properly.)
We were able to take the bus to Taroko right in front of the hotel (Not super frequent, but it worked for us. You can always walk to the train station for more frequent buses). The Taroko park entrance is about 6km away so you save time on transportation.
It took me about 9 minute without luggage and 12 mins with luggage to walk from the train station. The B&B also offered free bicycle rental so I was able to go sightseeing to the beach/town for free. The host, Susi was also very helpful, kind and offered a lot of local info. Free fruits and coffee were offered everyday. There's a big washing machine with detergent (TWD10) to use. Beautiful, quite town of Xincheng with easy access to Taroko National Park.
It’s cleaner and quieter than what I thought. It’s super close to Taroko and also the Xincheng old street, where you can buy food and great lemonade. I stayed at one bed of 6-bed male backpacker room. I think the room is very suitable for those who travel alone like me. Considering the price and all I got to enjoy, I must say it’s really worth it and I’ll definitely rebook it if I ever consider coming here again.
The hotel is cozy and comfortable with well equipped rooms and a patio that is lovely to have tea on. Easily walkable to train and bus, making Taroko visits very handy. Food and beach nearby also. But more than anything, Sunny makes you feel like you're visiting friends and just so welcome. She extends so much kindness and really went out of her way to take care of us. Loved our stay here.
We loved our experience at Xincheng B and B. The hosts were so lovely and drove us to rent a scooter and then drove us when it was time for us to catch a train. They got me vegan food and even went out to get unsweetened tea when they didn't have that. They were so so kind and we'll definitely stay at the BnB again when we return to Xincheng.
Breakfast was great. The location was convenient to visiting Taroko Gorge. However, our hotel window wasn't clean and the view was not the mountain view we expected. The street was right in front of us and the view was okay from afar. We enjoyed the hotel's small backyard.
The hotel is extraordinary with great facility! It’s clean and the social area is cozy and relaxing. The location is great, only took 5 minutes to drive from the train station. And people can walk to the seawall (literally can walk there in 1-2 minutes).
Lovely breakfast, varied choices including Taiwanese choices. Well thought out décor and attentive, English-speaking staff. Close to Taroko Gorge with bus stop outside. We were able to easily arrange a kayaking trip through the hotel as well.
The owner was super nice and offered to make us a breakfast package as we left really early in the morning to go kayaking at Qingshui cliffs.
Comfortable and affordable small hotel.
