This is a very private boutiqe hotel, with just around 12 rooms - about 6 were occupied while we were there. It felt really private.
Breakfast is a la carte, with many options.
Staff was constantly cleaning and doing small fixes around the place. It was always stunning and spotless.

The resort is great for spending a few days relaxing by the pool.
Very friendly staff and very caring customer relation manager who make you feel welcome from the first minute. The property is very clean and well maintained. The rooms are large, quiet and beds are comfortable. WIFI connection is good throughout the facility. The large pool and dining areas are nice. The all-inclusive package includes catering a-la-carte (no buffet). The lunch and dinner menus are changed every day. Vegetarian options are available.
We were kindly offered a late check-out free of charge (unfortunately we had to leave early).

Pongwe is an isolated beach, at low tide the sea is very far away and, even at high tide, it is very shallow - you cannot swim. Kiwengwa beach, next door (10 minutes by car) is much better, more lively, with many shops and good hotels.

There is not much to do in the local area other than visit other hotel resorts. We did visit a local school to make a donation and I would advise bringing something with you to donate e.g notebooks, sweets, money

Small remote holiday village with the white sand beach but not having good beach maintenance (seaweed, some dirt on the beach). Little bit far from anything in Zanzibar (far from Stone city and airport, far from spectacular Nungwi and Paje beach). No bars, restaurants, shops and infrastructure outside the holiday resort due to remote location and low density of tourists.

At first sight you can say....what to do here ?....no shops, just some local fruits selling points, no crowded areas, less traffic than anywhere but more nature than anywhere around. It's exactly the opposite comparing with Paje. If you need a quiet, family friendly, uncrowded spot.....ask for Pongwe. And if you want to understand why I'm saying these....just go on Pongwe beach when low tide is there.

I did not visit Pongwe town.
I did not visit Pongwe town. I stayed in a luxury boutique hotel north of the town as I like a quiet holiday. The only problem was the tide leaving an unattractive expanse of muddy rocks. The hotel's pontoon helped with access to the sea when the tide was high.

The accommodation and restaurant in Weavers Lodge was outstanding and the beach was idyllic. The tide tends to be out until about 3pm (July/Aug stay) and there are some sharp rocks - if your feet are particularly fragile, water shoes are a good idea. We cycled to the next village - an enjoyable afternoon trip. Very friendly locals.
I have stayed at 4 different resorts in Zanzibar and this was by far the best resort. The rooms were clean, the food was delicious and most importantly the staff was great. I stayed there with my wife and baby and everyone was always helpful . A big thank you to Ahmed and the other waiters in the restaurant, it was a pleasure. Also, a big thank you to Adela the manager for making our stay very enjoyable. I would strongly recommend this resort to anyone looking to relax in Zanzibar.
Amazing place! Probably the most beutiful place where ever I stayed. Direct access to the beach, the atmosphere was so calm and relaxing, we just chillin on the balcony for hours every day, listening the sounds of the silence. I felt if Im dreaming many times. The suite is literally few steps from the ocean.
Beautiful hotel and wonderful employees who helped us in every case. I recommend it to everyone who appreciates peace and quiet.
The hotel has a beautiful tropical garden, and a very nice and quiet beach near to it. The room was basic but comfortable, with nice view to the garden. The staff is really nice. I appreciate that I could stay longer in the room on my last day, as my flight was late in the evening, that helped a lot. It’s not a luxury hotel, but still a beautiful place to stay and relax. The area is quiet, so only come here, if you want to relax only.
Everything was perfect. The Hotel and its facilities are amazing. The room was perfect. The staff were absolutely wonderful! We informed them that we were visiting Zanzibar on our honeymoon and they made sure that we had a memorable stay with them. From the room decorations, to the delicious food and great hospitality of the staff; everything was perfect. Special thanks to Chef Mubarak, Janeth and Esta :)
The villa with the private pool was amazing. Very large with a very big terrace. Clean and large pool.
You could see the ocean while sleeping on the bed.
Beautiful infinity pool. Very private clean beach and amazingly clear waters.
We got the last villa on the walkway which gave us the utmost privacy, thanks Pongwe beach hotel.
Pros:
-Huge villa, with nice porch and cute little plonge pool; and perfect view onto the beach
-Pongwe is THE most remote place in Zanzibar still, so book if you want total tranquility (but also lack of any kind of shop;)
-Nice bedrooms, with good airco
-Part of a consortium with another villa and a small restaurant.
Very nice little paradise right by the quiet Pongwe beaches! The rooms are comfy, clean with all necessary amenities. The gardens and communal areas are well organised and beautiful.
Clean pool and the staff are very friendly.
The food in the restaurant is very delicious with lots of variety and the prices are fair.
The hotel is beautiful and tastefully decorated. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is excellent. The spa is also very nice with a good range of treatments. The beach area is nice (just be mindful that during low tide you need to walk if you want to swim). The overall atmosphere is very relaxing.
Fronts onto a beautiful beach.
Nice Swimming pool.
Very quiet except from 6.30am to 7am in the morning.
Grounds are attractive and nicely landscaped.
Easy to book day trips from hotel.
Rooms were serviced daily and sprayed for mosquitoes.
Location is wonderful! The beach is beautiful, not too many annoying "beach boys ". You can feel here like you were alone. Really, paradise hotel! All rooms are in bungalowes, so you have your private space or even private pool.
The island in Zanzibar is one of the most unique hotel located in the middle of the Indian Ocean build on a coral rock-where you can walk right into the water when is high tide or walk on the ocean floor when is low tide
Staff friendliness and the hospitality the managing director (Ali) provided. The food is excellent and good red wine. Pool is beautiful too. Good security. We had an excellent time and recommend this hotel.
It was really nice
And they have a driver called Mousa he was wonderful incase anyone wants to go around zanzibar definitely take Mousa as your driver asanteni sana
The beach is very calm and quiet, the staff super helpful and friendly. Delicious food - I recommend octopus with coconut sauce - the best octopus in my life :)
Everything about the hotel was good. There's a nice common area with beds and a pool where you can eat or drink at anytime. The food is different everyday.
