What we liked the most was securing the hotel lobby entry doors at night, requiring you to have your room key card to enter. This made us feel safe.
However, on departure day I forgot my new black jacket in the room either hanging in the closet or left on the bed. It was purchased in Seattle, during the first part of our trip Nov 1 - 15, because the weather was sooo cold. Upon reaching home I called the hotel while unpacking and discovered it missing. I spoke to the Manager of the Front Office who informed me he will check with the Housekeepers that serviced our room and would call me back. As of today Dec. 12, 2022 Matt has not called back. No one answers when I called the hotel (510-849-1121) several times since checking out. This is very disappointing. I hope someone looks into this and provides an update to me.

Very large sized bathroom. I enjoyed the bathroom very much!
Very large sized bathroom. I enjoyed the bathroom very much! My booking said breakfast included. There was none. Not just this motel/hotel, many are renovating, and quiet enjoyment is not good. But did get some rest around 7 pm. The person above me was a heavy walker/ stomper. Even still, I would choose to come back again, because of the size of the bathroom.

Beautiful city with dirty streets.
Beautiful city with dirty streets. Compared to Boston or Cambridge, the city is clearly not doing enough to address unhoused people, especially those suffering mental illness. Their presence is apparent on sidewalks throughout the city. So too is trash, discarded papers, garbage and generally disorder that could at least be ameliorated with decent temporary housing, daily expanded sidewalk cleaning and leasing of dozens of boarded up businesses (even temporarily to artists, etc).

Enjoyed our stay in Berkeley.
Enjoyed our stay in Berkeley. Went there for our son's graduation and had a few days to walk around. We visited the campus, my husband and son went running and we had a nice dinner at Chez Panisse Bistrot (had to make the reservation THE day they opened up the reservations on-line) to celebrate. Lots of food options near the hotel, getting around Berkeley is easy. It was fun seeing the graduates.

I loved Berkeley and it’s beautiful greenery and views.
I loved Berkeley and it’s beautiful greenery and views. The food options are endless and the casual shopping is so much fun. There is so much to see in the town and on Cal campus. The surrounding areas offer a variety of activities and vistas.
Housekeeping was perfect.
I stayed other three hotels in America for long stay before, but all housekeeping was not good.
This is the best. I can’t have complaints.
The furniture is not new, but it is clean. It’s enough.
There is a bus stop in 2min by walk.
Laundry, a few restaurants, supermarkets, a discount store near here.
The reception staff is kind.
I saw a bug in my room late at night on a strong rainy day, but they quickly changed the room for me and cleaned the next day. They did their best.
The response was perfect.
Price and location. Over all is a good place to stay in Berkeley. Bathrooms def got remodeled and looked good and clean. Bed is okay as well as pillows it is not a 5 star hotel at the end. Free parking def attractive. 15 minutes to downtown SF and Embarcadero without traffic. with traffic it's about 30 minutes or so.
I was just visiting Berkeley for a concert, and this hotel was perfectly located. Very, very friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast (with a pretty good variety of stuff!), and a ton of good food options in a close walking distance. I don't stay in chain hotels very often, and honestly, I was blown away.
The hotel is completely new (or renovated). Room was quite spacious and comfortable with all amenities needed - safe, coffee maker, microwave, fridge, iron, hair dryer, huge TV and a lot of USB outlets (super useful!). Private bathroom was very clean. The AC was like new and worked as expected.
The hotel is located just near everything you could walk to. There are lovely and lively restaurants nearby, you could go for a lovely evening stroll but also sit on your patio. The rooms are spacious and we had the best night sleep in quite a while. It is a lovely place if you are a lively.
Breakfast was great! Location was excellent - close by campus of UC Berkeley - made visit to our kids very nice. The hotel is a historic place and all decors are like antiques - very old school and nice. We had a room with the view of Bay and Golden Gate bridges and SF city (top floor).
Room is big and clean with microwave and fridge. The hotel maintains at good condition like a new one, we are satisfied with the hotel. The Staff in the front desk is very friendly and helpful, update my room to a better one. Location is good, about 10 mins walking to UC Berkeley.
This hotel is an old place with no elevators or gym it is located across the street from UC Berkeley and the Kid partied all night long one night. I reserved with a company credit card and when they took my personal card to hold they billed it to that and still have not fixed.
Staff was pleasant and helpful. But a previous guest had defecated on the floor of the common toilet/shower. Apparently the common bath is not cleaned or inspected daily. I would not recommend this hotel despite the good location.
Location is perfect. Love going down to the Cafe in the morning and taking with the people. Love walking Berkeley. Room are consistent and comfortable. A little aged, but nice. Lots of good restaurants nearby.
Staff was welcoming and friendly, providing a map of the area. The hotel was clean and everything in good working order. The shower was especially nice--tall enough! Windows opened for good ventilation.
Great location, very close to the Berkeley University, very helpful staff, the room is very spacious with two king size beds - good for families or friends travelling together.
finally a real breakfast with hot dishes, not plastic plates anymore. great location with a perfect view of the Golden Gate Bridge. nice hiking trial just behind the hotel
You get what you pay for - location is the best; hotel is older and more like a motel. Small room and parking area but very close to UC Berkeley which serves our purposes.
it’s charming and different than chain hotels. it has parking and is an easy walk up to telegraph avenue. there is a Whole Food a few blocks away, plus a close by CVS.
we loved the atmosphere of Berkeley city club hotel, the charm of the old building. very well located. confortable rooms, even of small. super nice staff at breakfast
