It was in a great location along a river. It had a good swimming pool & hot tub. We stayed here to ski at the Aspen ski resorts.

We stayed in Carbondale because it was close to Marble, Colorado where we planned to ride ATVs on Scholfield Pass. This ride goes by one of the most photographed locations in Colorado.
The Crystal City Mill. It's a 4 Wheel drive road only so don't plan on driving your car or SUV on this road.

Great area for historical locations like Doc Holiday in Glenwood Springs, Coke Ovens in Redstone, and a working marble quarry in Marble, Colorado.
There were a lot of local restaurant options. Really no chain restaurants which made the dining experience quaint.
I grew up in the valley and was familiar with the area.

City Market closes at 9 pm, so get your food items from there earlier. I was there to ski at Ski Sunlight so didn't have much time to explore. The hiking across the highway 82 at Red Hill was great and a workout. There are paths through the town that I walked my dog on, also nice. I went to La Fogata across the street from Days Inn, but they did not understand I was trying to order two tacos and yucca fries and instead gave me two large meals (no prices listed either). Just be careful if you go there that you get what you are trying to order.

Unfortunately it was too far from Maroon Bells for us to get through the gate. We actually got there before 7, but their parking lots were already full. It is best to stay in Snowmass and get up at 5, maybe then you would be able to avoid the shuttle. I didn't think that Carbondale was that great unless you are a fishermen, or interested in the Roaring Fork river. There are trails, but we didn't have time to try them all.

We REALLY liked the Japanese resturant !
We REALLY liked the Japanese resturant ! Too bad it wasn't open for lunch. We all enjoyed the rodeo. (I don't think my grandkids had ever been to one.)
We really spent most of our time in Glenwood; rafting, hot tub pool, etc. Also time in Aspen.
