I liked the staff was very friendly when we arrived. We never did get to eat the breakfast but that was because we slept passed the time, they were serving the meals. The room was very clean and when we asked for clean towels and our trash to be emptied the staff was always willing to help with what we needed. The one thing that made everyone happy was the indoor pool since the kids had a great time with that it deftly made this mom and dad enjoy our stay better.

Charleston had some interesting things to see.
Charleston had some interesting things to see. The mall was nice, the coliseum was beautiful and very big, the capital was certainly beautiful and worth seeing. The highway is located conveniently as well. There were a lot of restaurants and such, but there were definitely some bad parts about this area. There were a lot of LARGE potholes in the road, many areas were very run down and not very safe, and some neighborhoods weren’t somewhere I would feel comfortable staying at either. Staying here for a night was okay. I did enjoy some of my time here though. My favorite spots were the areas near the mall and the mall itself. We ate at a Hardee’s, McDoanld’s, and at the Outback which were all pretty good! Getting around Charleston is okay, it’s not overly complicated. If you’re not used to driving in a little bit of a larger area with added lanes and more traffic then definitely bring someone with you to help out. Parking garages in the area are confusing, and don’t use Spot Hero if you’re going to an event for parking. The garages don’t take your QR code and you’ll have to pay for the parking garage again. Don’t waste your money there. I would avoid Dunbar next time, and focus mainly on the Charleston area itself. Near the mall isn’t bad at all, it’s when you hit a little further out that things seemingly aren’t the best.

Since Charleston is my hometown I love it and miss it.
Since Charleston is my hometown I love it and miss it. It is amazing how many changes have taken place since 12/1996, when we moved away due to job changes. We have the most beautiful capital than any other state. Mountain views are beautiful during all 4 seasons.

I had to ask for coffee from a man vacuuming the hallway.
I had to ask for coffee from a man vacuuming the hallway. My bed was not made and trash in living quarter was not emptied. A woman had a barking dog and I asked the front desk if that was allowed and I was told that it was as long as they paid a fee for the dog. The bed was comfortable and the sheets and pillow cases were fresh and clean. The door jam going into the bathroom had a brown substance on it that I cleaned with wet tissues, not sure what it was, but I know what it looked like. If I could see it so should the employees who clean the room. I will never stay there again.

Well we drove around the riverfront are and downtown and liked it all. We wanted to visit the state museum but that will be for another time. We others for lunch at the Red Lobster at a shopping center. That was good.
We went to the Hale House downtown for dinner. It was elegant and delicious.
The weather was bad with lightening storms that took out the power. The front desk crew was personable and accommodating with us, and all the other potential guests wandering in from the storm. There was an air of comradery in the lobby, in the dark, while we all waited for the power to come on so we could get into rooms. The front desk guy suggested we book online to save time when the power came on. They provided water for the travelers while we waited. Two hours later when the power came back on we were in our room within minutes!
The room layouts really are great for families when babies need to go to sleep early. The pet free room was so great. As a dog owner who leaves him behind, I prefer to not have other animals or their “prints” left behind. The last pet friendly stay was stinky. Breakfast was great and very convenient (but ended very strictly at 9am). Dinner at the hotel restaurant was also great. And complimentary drinks were a nice surprise. Prompt delivery of pool towels.
The staff was great and accommodating, I was able to stay in a good, clean hotel near the hospital for my moms surgery the next morning. The front desk worker was very understanding of this situation and allowed us to stay still even though they have a new rule of not allowing locals within a 20 mile radius…Breakfast was great. Rooms were clean.
This is economical stay in downtown Charleston. I have stayed here a dozen times over the last five years. The rooms are average and every time I have stayed it has been quiet. You can park for free at the facility. It's a three-block walk to a movie theater, a five-block walk to a downtown mall and to the Convention Center.
Bed was hard, pillows weren't at all comfortable and breakfast was not worth the extra I paid for this hotel over my other option (that did not serve breakfast). Close to places to shop and eat, but definitely had some shady activity in the next parking lot over. Staff was polite (not friendly exactly) and rooms were clean.
Affordable hotel that is just off exit. Pet friendly for additional charge. Reasonable rate for safe location, comfy beds, pet friendly, breakfast included and free parking. Just what I needed while traveling to sisters house. Rooms were quite except barking neighbor dog, but that's what you get with pet friendly.
Very well located close to the interstate, and the rooms are not really noisy at all. The hotel is in need of a deep clean/ freshen up, but as for the bedding and bathroom, it was clean. The breakfast is not much to write about… the usual muffins, yogurt, eggs, bacon, all served on polystyrene???
Staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions for places to eat. Checking in/out was smooth. Room was clean and comfortable. Nice assotment for hot and cold breakfast foods. We also enjoyed the pool. Location was within walking distance to restaurants and the Capitol.
The staff was so friendly and helpful! The hotel shared a parking lot with a great restaurant too! Plus the location was great for us because we were just passing through so we were able to get on and off the main roads easily from there.
The complimentary breakfast was very good. The location was outstanding for anything in downtown Charleston. I was able to tour a lot of the city on foot. That includes the downtown entertainment venues.
The breakfast exceeded any other hotels I’ve visited in the area. The staff was friendly, and my toddler had a wonderful time in the pool. Thanks for everything!
I do not usually have high expectations when staying at cheaper chain hotels but the bed was surprisingly very comfortable, will definitely stay here again.
