Haines is a great place to visit in summer. We have been there many times to fish and scuba dive, as well as to just camp and enjoy the beautiful coastal wilderness. Two great wilderness campgrounds close to Haines, and two urban campgrounds right in town.
Unique places to eat during the summer. Good fishing charters available. Connection to excursions to Juneau via fast ferry service. Lots of bears and eagles to see during salmon runs.

Haines was easy to get around.
Haines was easy to get around. We visited many shops there and found some lovely items to buy. The Bamboo Room served us excellent food for dinner and we were interested to read about the history of that restaurant.
Unfortunately, it was quite foggy there so we weren't able to see much of the scenery. But, we took the Alaska ferry to Skagway the following day and it was absolutely beautiful and sunny.

Haines is a lovely historical little town on the water.
Haines is a lovely historical little town on the water. So calm and quiet. It was misty and overcast and yet still inviting. I can only imagine how grand the place is is when the sun is shining. We would all have loved to spend more days there. One day is definitely way too short. We will be back. 💕

It is a very small fishing village.
It is a very small fishing village. The people were very friendly and helpful. I went on a Cultural and Heritage Tour by Hinterland . I was the only traveller I had an excellent time most memorable especially the Klukwaan Heritage museum.
The Sheldon Museum as well . We travelled all the way into Canada,s Yukon district .
I was only there 2 nights but would love to go back and stay longer.

Spectacular scenic location.
Spectacular scenic location. There was enough to keep us busy for 4 days, but we only had 2 days to spend in town. Maybe next time around. There are several surprisingly good dining options in town.

Haines is a great walking city. Everything is close by.
Haines is a great walking city. Everything is close by. There are lots of places to eat and drink, all are expensive. We would have enjoyed a restaurant or bar with an outdoor seating area overlooking the harbor.
We did enjoy a hike in the woods out Mud Bay rd, but had to rent an expensive junker car to travel to the trail head.
