Very friendly staff. Big rooms. Very clean. Great bed. Great with the outdoor firepit (free firewood incl.). Lovely location just about a mile or two both from Hill City and the 2 wineries in the area.
Great idea to put a list of places to eat in the area in the room.

Hill City is perfect for couples or families wanting to visit the Black Hills area of South Dakota. It had great restaurants very near our hotel, like the Chute Rooster. There was a winery and a brewery nearby. The town was walkable and had great shopping. It was very close to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy horse monument area. Also Custer National Park and Windcave National Park. It had a lot going on but didn't seem too busy. We will definitely come back and stay here if we come to this area again.

We've been to Hill City many times over the years.
We've been to Hill City many times over the years. History, the train, nearness to Mount Rushmore, and surrounding scenery are the biggest draws of Hill City. Quality of food was lacking. Steak was questionable as to what it really was at the Alpine Inn and the Pizza at the big restaurant on the corner was horrible. Other than that, Hill City is a neat old historical town, but it ain't like it was just a few years ago.

We stayed on the second floor and there is no elevator but that was not an issue for us. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast and quality coffee :) It was very close to Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Custer Park (which has a great wildlife loop - don't miss it!) Being so close allowed us to visit the places more than once in a day which is a nice option. The entry fees to these places all allowed you to come and go for a couple days. All in all this was a very convenient place to stay at a very reasonable price.

The hotel was fine, the front staff was professional and housekeeping was great! Parking is tight with large full size truck. We had to park away from our room due to tight parking. The entrance was a bit unusual to access.

Hill city had a lot of interesting stores and restaurants...
Hill city had a lot of interesting stores and restaurants plus needed facilities such as a post office. It was easy to drive and park there and close to many sites one would want to visit. It is quaint and pictoresque.
These are very well build and designed cabins in the woods just outside of Hill City. Very peaceful place to stay that feels rustic and in nature in the middle of very busy and tourist Black Hills. We really love the Black Hills area and this helps us enjoy being there. Is relatively close to Rushmore, Jewel Cave, Deadwood, Custer State Park, Sylvan Lake, ATV rentals, 1880 Train, riding some of the fantastic gravel Michelson bike trail, etc, which we did all of and more. A very good value if you have six or so people with you.
This is a lodge situated in a huge summer camp and RV park situated right between Hill City & Keystone. We don't have kids but the place looked like an amazing place to bring them in the summer with a tremendous amount of facilities and activities. We liked it because we were able to eat in Keystone Hill City, Custer, and Rapid City.
The rooms themselves were fine with a lovely view of the hill, we were very happy there.
Hill City SD is a good location to stay it central location is convenient. 30 minutes away from Rapids City, Key Stone, Mount Rushmore, and Custard State Park. I enjoyed having a small kitchen with a full sized oven. The bedding was clean and the bathroom was clean. The fire pit was nice and they provide wood.
Location was outstanding! Outside we could see deer on the hillside. It is a short walk into Hill City. Very close to all the attractions of Mt. Rushmore, etc. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Initially, we were to be located on the 3rd floor, but they were able to get us a ground floor room.
It was only a mile from town and far enough away to be away from the town. The owner was friendly and there was coffee and tea provided for us. The rooms were spacious, and the bathroom was large. It is a very nice place to stay for a get away vacation. Hill City is great little town.
Everything! After driving all day we got in our room we were surprised to have a jacuzzi hot tub in it, a much needed addition to our stay. Breakfast was the best so far during our trip with plenty of options. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Would stay here again!
Charming little camp ground and cabins just outside of Keystone. Perfect location if you are venturing out to the many Black Hills sites. Staff was super friendly and we weren't overrun due to the size of the grounds. Will definitely stay here again if we're in the area.

It was in a perfect location, close to the places we wanted to visit, and Hill City is a beautiful town with lots of restaurants and shops. The cabin was beautiful and was stocked well.
The luxury apartments are part of the best western next door. Breakfast was nice. The parking lot is close to buildings. Close to downtown Hill City. Lots of food choices close by.
Comfortable room in a nice location. Not far from Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse. Plenty of parking. Easy walking distance from most of Hill City’s attractions and restaurants
Breakfast was great - location in Hill City was wonderful! Adorable town with shopping and restaurants nearby. Staff was wonderful and hotel seemed brand new!
