FAQs about hotels in Honolulu

A True Water Sports Paradise

Standing proudly on the island of Oahu in the Pacific Ocean, Honolulu is the Hawaiian capital, meaning "a sheltered bay." Spreading along the white sandy beaches and supported by the strong back of the volcanic mountains, it's a real island paradise.

Honolulu's most popular and famous district, Waikiki, features the stunning Waikiki Beach decorated with hundreds of surfboards, palms and lounge chairs. It’s also a center for the city’s nightlife and shopping, especially along Kalakaua and Kuhio Avenues.

As the most popular activities in Honolulu include surfing, snorkeling, canoeing and other water sports, it's no surprise the city has a number of sandy beaches. Try Hanauma Bay, a crescent-shaped beach with rolling, green hills behind it.

For fans of hiking and exploring, nature awaits at Diamond Head Mountain, a volcanic tuff cone where you can admire the panoramic view of the city. There is also the Bishop Museum with the world’s largest collection of Hawaiian and Pacific artifacts and the Waikiki Aquarium with over 490 species of marine fauna and flora.

From hotels near Honolulu International Airport to hotels near the beach, Booking.com has plenty of properties, from cheap to luxury, for your Honolulu trip.

I come every year to Honolulu for an annual conference at one of the big hotels. Honolulu is ok I suppose but it is really just like any provincial US city with beaches! I hear that the other islands are more pleasant. Personally, I would never bring the family for a vacation in Honolulu itself.

    Not really anything i liked.

Not really anything i liked. Couldn't relax on the beach far too overcrowded. And apart from Pearl Harbor nothing much to do. Being a visitor and not having a car have to rely on local bus. We took the trip to the Dole Plantation it boast the largest Maize in the world it was closed . So a 2 hour on a freezing bus for nothing, as the restaurant was also closed. Its bassicaly a massive gift shop . Paid to go into the garden which we walked around in about 6 mins. Sorry to say Honolulu is not what it is portrayed at all. Run down shops , rubbish everywhere and more homeless sleeping rough than than i have ever seen in my life ... Sorry but its my honest opinion , i will never return nor will i recommend. I felt it was 5 days, out of my month long holiday wasted, i could have spent better else where .

    Crowded, but fun.

Crowded, but fun. Reminded us of a "smaller" version of the LV strip. Uber worked well for getting to Pearl Harbor and we used a private tour company for Hanauma Bay. Fun to walk by and visit the chichi stores, but then happy to visit the north shore and chiller Oahu sites.

We enjoy the location close to Ala Moana shopping centre, Ross and Wal-mart. We also enjoyed the breakfast, tasty , good options to choose from and the discount on breakfast. We like the fact that this is a hotel that serves local people, and Hawaiian residents who live other islands in the state. In other words, this hotel does not have a tourist vibe. I like coming to the Pagoda, because I used to live here in Honolulu as a child and I remember my parents would come to the restaurant for special family dinners.

This hotel had so much character. For the most part we really liked it and we have stayed in quite a few hotels and resorts in the Waikiki area. We really loved the vintage vibe that felt well thought-out and not cheap. The bar and pool were great and all the rentable chairs/body boards were SO handy and we were glad they were included in the price. Beds were comfortable enough, and room was well decorated. The location is ok in the fact that it is close to the beach.

The condo/hotel accommodated our request for two double beds. The room is of descent size and clean. It even has a kitchenette with a sink, bowls, dishes and utensils and a coffee maker. Our room was on the 3rd level and has a large patio/lanai that we can look at the Waikiki downtown. Even before I arrived, Anthony was extremely helpful! He arranged for a pick up and drop off at the airport, gave me a list of recommendations to eat at around Waikiki and Ala Moana, and checked in on me throughout the day to make sure I was enjoying my stay. The hotel room was cool and clean, and is in a very convenient location (only about a 5-10 minute walk from the beach at Hilton Hawaiian Village). I highly recommend!

    - Location: great location. We've stayed at another hotel across from Waikiki beach, but that location wasn't as good as Surfer's for us because all the restaurants, cafes and shops are actually closer to Surfer's. - View: nothing beats the view of that pool... - Service: we got a room upgrade and ended up staying in a 2-bedroom suite, super spacious! Make all other rooms we've stayed at in Hawaii seemed small 😂

The upper floor, ocean view room was a great choice! The views were spectacular. I could see the ocean while just standing in the room. Was able to view the Hawaiian Village fireworks show on Friday night. Hotel right across the street from Waikiki Beach. This is my favourite hotel in Waikiki and our third stay in less than three years. The location is perfect, the staff are incredible, the room is a decent size and you can always get a lounger at the pool. I've stayed at The Royal Hawaiian, Moana Surfrider, Alohilani, Mariott, and many other properties and this one trumps them all in my mind for the price.

The hotel's common spaces are great - pool, lobby, restaurants were all great. The rooms were on par with a Holiday Inn. They desperately need remodeling. Super cheap bathrooms and finishes. The only offer room cleaning every other day & with being right on the beach with kids this is not acceptable for the rates they charge.
