Idaho Springs is a delightful small town. Nice shops and friendly people. The only drawback is that there is no FREE auto parking during the day. Even steet parking is on a meter and there are no free parking lots.

Mt Evans is amazing - very scary to drive in the sleet and snow but a real adventure - incredible views! Saw lots of marmots but no mountain goats as the summit was closed on June 12th due to icy weather conditions! Towns folk were SO NICE and helpful to us as we were leaving and stopped at the gas station/general stores. Idaho Springs is really quaint - like a step back in time and the natural places like lakes and parks along the route to Mt. Evans are worth a visit as well. There is a small campsite to the left of the entrance to Mt. Evans and people were in tents and it was freezing but they all seemed to be having fun. Water/creek extends the whole length of the mountain with lots of little waterfalls. Did not do any restaurants - lots of diners and country restaurants. Check it out - it's so close to Denver!

The lodge was great. Immaculately clean. A comfortable room.
The lodge was great. Immaculately clean. A comfortable room. Meeting and talking with the hosts, Andrew and Margaret was a highlight. We planned to hike to St. Mary's Glacier which is nearby. They offered advice and lent us a pair of binoculars, and some walking poles. So kind. Our chats with them were memorable, and we wish we could have stayed longer. Additionally, the town of Idaho Springs is great. An old mining town, with buildings on main street from the 1800's. Great eateries and things to do. Love this place!

Idaho springs great. H&M’s lodge was worst stay ever.
Idaho springs great. H&M’s lodge was worst stay ever. If you look at the web pictures they offer it’s nothing like the horrible room and property. Trash. Garbage. Old washer dryer outside no spa they spoke of. Candy wrappers in lamps. Attic entry falling off the ceiling. Toilet was a child’s toilet . Wifi was mostly down shower too dirty to shower with . Checkout time was 8 am. Really on a vacay. Breakfast in Idaho springs wonderful. I am reluctant to use a service that misrepresents what a paying customer is booking.

The city service’s are inadequate.
The city service’s are inadequate. There is a lot of litter and loitering, the sidewalks are poorly maintained and unsafe for pedestrians due to indiscriminate skateboarding. It feels like the city is over run with tourism and can’t keep up with demand for sanitation, repair and upkeep. Does the Chamber of Commerce provide oversight and assistance?
