We stayed in Wild Dunes (this is gated), but we also drove into Isle of Palms for groceries and a seafood (little local store across from grocery). There are a number of restaurants in town as well: Acme is a must, others you can look up on TripAdvisor to decide. There is also a little park in IoP and a little town that you can walk around and shop in (has sidewalks). You can also drive into Sullivan's Island directly across the bridge. Downtown Charleston is only about a 25-minute drive as well and is a great place to go on days you don't want to go to the beach. We enjoy the people; they are very friendly and helpful. Be patient if you are driving. There is one road in and one road out in IoP, so open your windows and breathe in the ocean air, driving can be slow, but it is generally moving. This is not a healthy food area; make veggys and salads in your rentals, enjoy the grits+ at the restaurants, then walk that off on the beach.

It is a great location if you plan to spend time on the beach, however, the Hotel Rooms want to be renovated and refreshed. Soundproofing is poor and you can hear everything from the room next to you.

We like the friendly locals and cool restaurants (The Dingy, Windjammer, and Coconut Joe's) with live music nightly within walking distance. Great breakfast at Sea Biscuit cafe. The room was nice and love being right on the beach. Beautiful sunrises. The hotel attendant Brandy was very friendly and everything we needed. I didn't care for the lights outside out window staying on all night.

We stayed in Isle of Palms on the off season ( November 1st) so it wasn't crowded or very busy- just how we like it. The IOP was so quaint, peaceful, beautiful, and there was so much to do and see to keep us busy for the 3 days we were there, I want to bring my family here to see the charm and beauty of this area. I give it 10 stars!!!

Beautiful area. Beach was nice, great community.

Beautiful area. Beach was nice, great community. Shops and restaurants are in walking distance. There's so much to do and on IOP and if you wanted to also explore the historic district of Charleston or the Harbor it was only about a 14min drive to downtown. Sullivan's island is also minutes away.

We stayed in two rooms during our stay as we asked to be moved due to the noise from the bar. Staff were understanding and helped us move. The first room, with two twin beds, was small- however the second one, with one queen bed was perfect. Both rooms had a balcony ( decent size), fridge and coffee machine The beach was at the doorstep, very nice and clean. Hotel was located near many bars and restaurants+ shop was 9 min walk away.

The location is good-easy fast walk to lovely big beach and close drive to grocery and restaurants (none in easy walking distance; closest (Boathouse) was .6 miles, the rest were more than a mile—lots of great choices). Spacious with good common areas and large bedrooms. Beds comfy. Hosts communicated well and often. Balcony upstairs was very nice - large and with a really comfy chair.
