The two front desk ladies were very helpful to us during our stay. We needed a bear spray and asked if they happened to have any and surely they did. Free of no charge. We gave it back after we left. The room was as expected and look just like the pictures. Also love that it was close to the airport.

The staff at the hotel were most accommodating and friendly.

The staff at the hotel were most accommodating and friendly. Truly it will be the only place my family will stay when are in Kodiak. They are also have a pet friendly policy which is difficult to find. Also the hotel is at the airport and sometimes taxis can take awhile to get when you need one in a hurry. Whether hanging out at the docks or going out to Mill Bay or old Fort Abercrombie there is plenty to see while staying in Kodiak.

Lovely walks around and in Kodiak.

Lovely walks around and in Kodiak. Was lovely to watch the whales just outside the harbour and the sea otters were just a delight! Interesting to see how the Russian influence still exists in this area. Friendly and helpful locals. Saw some really different fish at the fish cleaning stations and learned a lot about the area from the fishermen. Well worth a visit.

We came for one night for our grandson's football game. We ended up getting weathered in for 2 extra nights. The Kodiak Compass was extremely accomodating. We had seen just about all there is to see in Kodiak on that first day. I highly recommend going out to Fort Abercrombie. The flora and fauna are unlike anything in Alaska. The WWII relics reminded us of Normandy. The Kodiak Brewery is a must if you like beer. The Russian Orthodox Church is stunningly beautiful. That's about it.

Mike Ansley of Happy Hooker Fishing Charters is a great company to book a fishing trip. Kodiak has been a reliable town to catch an abundance of fish, and the town has many amazing restaurants to choose from.

Restaurants: Noodles for Thai, Powerhouse/Kodiak Hana for sushi, Henry's for good bar food. Island Seafood's to ship seafood home. Highly recommend that you check business hours on locations. Lots of places were closed on Monday and some on Tuesday too. Enjoyed the Kodiak History Museum (Erskine House) and the Kodiak Military History Museum at Miller Point Fort Abercrombie. Beer lovers should check out the Kodiak Island Brewing Company--they have 1 quart growler cans that I was able to wrap and pack in my suitcase to bring home. There's an ~2 mile hike to Cape Spruce that is beautiful; trail head is at the end of Woodland Drive.

A beautiful island with wonderful people and a lot of history to be heard and seen. Hope to go back someday! We had the best sea food at Henry's in the downtown area. Shopped at a little gift shop with neat things to offer. We found a fish processing place to order and send home salmon.
