Lamar is a small town in the middle of the prairie.

Lamar is a small town in the middle of the prairie. Some people would call it desolate and unremarkable, but there is a beauty for anyone willing to look just a little harder and deeper. Its people are tough, they have had to be. Life is not easy on the prairie. They are kind and helpful because it is that spirit that has made life bearable. In Lamar, no one is really a stranger, they will always find a way to help you. Now is the coming of Spring and soon those stretches of prairie will be covered with miles and miles of the most beautiful flowers and thousands of migrating birds will be sharing their song. It's not the big city with people trying to be fancy and uppity. Its Lamar where people are real.

We were passing through on our way back to San Antonio, so we just stayed the one night. The bed was quite comfortable and water in bathroom was good and hot. We did have a hard time finding a place to eat as it seems everything in this small town - that isn't fast food - closes early. We did find a hamburger joint that seemed to be the spot for local high school teams. The prices were good, the place well lit and the food reasonable.

Door Dash delivered us our pizza from Pizza Hut.

Door Dash delivered us our pizza from Pizza Hut. This was hot and fresh and delicious. Went to coffee in morning, was very impressed with coffee but had to wait a long time, - very busy due to a church service in the coffee shop which was not a problem as I had time. That was interesting and a great place to have a gathering of spirit. Lamar's main road under construction but was ok. A bit of a round about way of getting around town . School facilities good - we were ther for the 2023 Snow Goose Festival.

It reminded me of the town in the movie 'All the Right Moves'. I was only there for one night, but my route out was different from way in, and didn't see much more to give reason for a longer stay.

on route to KS(off 287 by a mile or so), clean budget priced, no smells, staff helpful, my mattress older but no divets, I was uncomfortable with A/C blowing on me all night even though it was too warm to spend night in van as i was planning, too bad my favorite tv channel was dropped before i left at 5 am.

Lamar is a very interesting little town. We were there for my sons freshman orientation. He will be attending Lamar Community College. It was bit of a fast trip so we didn’t get to do or see the things I wanted to but will definitely get them done!!

I grew up in Lamar and have stayed at the hotel off and on over the years.. so even though it has been updated, it’s still an older hotel, nothing fancy... but the room was clean, bed was comfortable and it was quiet surroundings. We didn’t try the restaurant but heard good things!

Nothing, because the reservation that was confirmed at the time of making it, was then cancelled by hotel staff, as we were near arrival, who said that the hotel was overbooked.

The rooms could use an update but they are perfectly amicable for a nights stay. I will probably stay here the next time I’m in Lamar.
