Morganton is a gateway to the Appalachian.
Morganton is a gateway to the Appalachian. Summertime has many sports. Wintertime has ski resorts not too far away. Summer drama “Trail of Faith” in Valdese is a great outdoor historical drama. Great place to spend some time!

Morganton is a family oriented town near the Blue Ridge mountains, Boone NC, and Asheville Nc. There are various restaurants and breweries. There are Summer and winter outdoor activities. There is a hiking, lakes, waterfalls, tubing, skiing, and historic places to visit. Quaint historic town with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The downtown area has some cute shops and restaurants. Easy to get around in and outskirts of town has the normal retail and chain restaurants.

Not a good place to stay.
Not a good place to stay. I was overcharged, still waiting on corrections. The woman who runs the front desk was there, morning, noon, night for 4 days....and looked it. Very unpleasant woman. The beds were terrible, pillows even worse. The lighting is horrible, feel like you are in a cave! Wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy!

Loved the town and the whole area visiting friends we had seen in 61 yrs... Day Inn not so good the only black mark of the trip no southern hospitality at all... All other locals very nice, friendly and helpful
