Ogdensburg is the home of the Fredrick Remington Museum , which is well worth visiting if you like painting and sculpture. The town is located on the south shore of the St Lawrence seaway, which is very scenic and near a bridge to Canada. I was on my way to Quebec City, and stopping in Ogdensburg to visit the museum was well worth the time.

Ogdensburg is strategically located if you need accommodations for Canton and Potsdam given that the two towns have four universities between them. But it's also just across the border from Ontario Canada with short drives to Ottawa, Upper Canada Village, Kingston and Montreal.

main reason for the trip was to go to Alexandria Bay and tour the Boldt Castle and for a little R&R and the Stonefence Resort was mentioned to us as a nice location which in all honesty bombed out with the issues ( mainly the bathroom ) the property seems to need a lot of love TLC

We loved the quaint riverside town.
We loved the quaint riverside town. Great breakfast place and the Remington Museum is a must see!!! We highly recommend a stop at this town where looking across the beautiful St. Lawrence River is Canada.
We arrived late and had a comfortable night in our clean, air conditioned room complete with coffee machine and mini fridge. The hotel is located along the St.Lawrence River which is stunning. Just one mile down the street is the main facility that offered us free breakfast. Visitors will be surprised by immaculate grounds with a beautiful pool and deck area on the river. It was really quite a pleasant surprise and had an old world but still updated feel. The price is right! Highly recommend and would be a fun place for a family reunion.
This facility was charming. It reminded me of places we would stay when I was a child. It had the homey check in desk, separate outdoor entrances to the rooms, outdoor activities for the kids, and so forth. The room was clean. There was a full refrigerator in my room, a sitting area, and a complete bathroom. The water pressure was great. Breakfast was good as well. Plenty of choices and a nice atmosphere to eat in.
Very nice!
Donna and Jim are kind and helpful. They really helped me when I first arrived. They are passionate about their hotel and of history. The hotel is sweet and quite unique as it in an old converted school. The rooms are spacious and elegant. For breakfast they kindly catered to my tastes. I would totally come back. 😊
The location and views from the hotel are amazing. The room was just in front of the river and ther was a huge grss for relaxing and playing. Pleanty to do outdoors.
Breakfast was very nice with many options. Stuff are nice. Tha restorant was very good we had dinner there and we enjoyed it very much.
Lovely room with a view of the St. Lawrence River. Room was spacious and bright. The hotel has a large grassy area that leads down to the River. There are some lawn games and a firepit. Our stay included a discount in the restaurant a few doors down where we had a nice meal.
This is an amazing place to stay. It is more like sleeping in a museum than a hotel. Without the help of the owner and staff I would never have been able to connect with my local relatives. I rate it 15/10 I have never stayed anywhere like it
It was the best hotel we've ever stayed in! The rooms are larger than majority of studios in Manhattan. Every room is unique. Donna and Jim are amazing hosts. Breakfast was 10 out of 10! I would recommend this place to stay to everyone!
This is an actual school converted into a B&B, and each classroom is now a room, resulting in huge, and finely decorated, hotel rooms. Kids also have a huge playroom and a swimming pool to play in.
Location is excellent. View on St Laurence River is unique. The hotel is renewed. Very clean. Nice property. Parking is easy. Service is acceptable. The restaurant is welcome,
The hotel was very clean, rooms on the older side but kept up, the view and outdoor accommodations is what will keep us coming back to the area, well worth the trip.
Quiet area. Free parking. Very easy to get to. Very scenic on the river. Nice Adirondack chairs and outside area. Discount offered for nearby restaurant.
