It was unusual as it was like a former apartment complex so we had the top floor rooms in a condo of 3 storeys. Large clean room, great large shower room, a couple of armchairs, balcony, separate small room with fridge, microwave. Quiet and great location a few min walk from Point Pinos - Pacific Coast, birdwatching, beach. Breakfast available. Avoids the traffic in Monterey with easy access back off the penninsula to the CA1.
This quaint hotel offers rooms with a fireplace and free Wi-Fi. The Asliomar State Beach is across from the property and access to the Pacific Ocean is within a 5-minute hike of the hotel.

It's old-fashioned but beautifully maintained. We arrived very late, but it was still easy to check-in. We loved the breathtaking view from the breakfast room and the small yet high-quality breakfast. The staff cannot be kinder, and parking is available directly at the property. I would stay again when I travel to Pacific Grove.

We loved Pacific Grove.
We loved Pacific Grove. The downtown is charming, the two restaurants we ate in were very good, Toasties and the Monarch Pub and Restaurant. The rocky coast is gorgeous with walking trails along it that go for miles.
It was very easy to get around.

Awesome ocean views (especially at sunset!), great natural history museum, delicious seafood. Lovely, walkable town (love the info on the old houses saying when they were built, and who the original owner was.) Kayaking, snorkeling, bicycling, golf, butterfly viewing all easily accessible and enjoyable almost year round.
Car is recommended, although to be fair I've never tried the public transportation system.

I love all the different types of shops the downtown has to offer. There are also excellent restaurants & little spots for coffee or tea. I love that it's near the seaside & some forest areas to explore. Downtown Monterey is just a very few minutes away. It's all a very relaxing part of the world.

Pacific Grove is a beautiful coastal town with many things to do and see. Just enough of what is needed is nearby but not overdone like a gas station on every corner, etc. The Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary is an amazing experience if you visit during the monarch migration season. Thousands of monarch butterflies to see. The beaches are stunning along the coastline and Monterey is just a stones throw away which offers more adventures. You really can't go wrong with this idyllic place.

One of our favorite places to visit.
One of our favorite places to visit. Pacific Grove has a real small town feel, but has wonderful restaurants (Red House Cafe, Bookworks Coffee) and the walking trail along the ocean is one of my favorite things to do. It is also close to other amazing places like Point Lobos, Big Sur and Pinnacles National Park. Try renting an E-bike and riding the stunning 17 Mile Drive from Pacific Grove to Carmel and back.

From our motel it was a short distance (walkable for young legs) to the ocean and the butterfly grove. There are great restaurants in Pacific Grove and nearby. Red House Cafe, Beach House (Lover's Point), Fishwife Restaurant are the ones we enjoyed. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Drive carefully, deer roam all around town night and day.
The location, the grounds, the natural raw beauty and the coziness. Felt safe. No one bothered us. Friendly attitudes among other visitors. Pet friendly.
Seagulls early morn wake up and the song of the ocean all night.
Fireplace. Little Kitchenette was helpful.
Easy walk to the most beautiful stunning coastline of Pacific Grove.
Quiet. Serene. Close enough to Carmel and Monterey.
Downtown Pacific Grove.... was all so amazing!!
Thank you for a beautiful, most memorable week! We will sea you again⚓
The Butterfly Grove Inn is a picturesque little place located very near the ocean in Pacific Grove, CA. It has a very 1950's -1960's vibe, with it's pink buildings. Our room had a vaulted ceiling and felt spacious. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed the pool and hot tub. There is no free breakfast, but coffee is available in the lobby, and there are several restaurants nearby that serve breakfast. The staff are welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed our stay, and will return!
We had a lovely clean and recently renovated spacious room with a little kitchen. Wonderful location right near the beach and nature walks with stunning views. An excellent location for exploring the beauty of the Big Sur area plus Monterey restaurants and shops. This location of Pacific Grove is so lovely in atmosphere and beauty we want to retire here! Owners very nice and accommodating
Historical building with Victorian charm. I stayed in one of the cottages with my family and it was prefect size for four of us. The facility is clean and staff are friendly. The inn provide a light breakfast and wine and cookies in the evening. Location is just few minutes walk to Lovers Point beach and Pacific Grove downtown (many restaurants to choose from).
I am not normally difficult but the first room I looked at was depressing to me. The staff handled my request for another room with concern and cheerfulness and upgraded me to a lovely bug room with a fireplace and a balcony. Parking was also very easy. I enjoyed my stay and will recommend Lighthouse Lodge to anyone looking for a place to stay in Pacific Grove.
The location, decor and breakfast! Right by the beach.... You can get a prime view of sunrise (not sunset). Free street parking and the grounds are so inviting. It's easily the prettiest sight as you drive along the Pacific Grove. Breakfast was great....best coffee ever. Victorian decor is so beautiful and the room is clean and well set up. I loved it!
Nice location close to Lighthouse and Asilimar Beach. We have stayed here numerous times and love the cottage themed exterior. This is the first time we have stayed in the cottages section. I liked having a sofa and fireplace.
Pacific Grove is one of our favorite places to visit rain or shine.
Room was spacious and clean but things felt a bit old; it could use a renovation/update. Many covered parking spaces within the hotel property are free and offer a feeling of safety. Location is good, within 10 minutes from Cannary Row. We only stayed for one night on our way to LA.
we stayed in a family room which was a room with a king sized bed and another with a queen bed. had a small table and chairs and balcony as well. good breakfast though it’s the same and small. easy access to Pacific Grove, Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, etc. Quiet.
The major plusses for the Monarch Resort were the location (near downtown Pacific Grove, near the shoreline, quiet neighborhood), and the price, not cheap but for the region it was reasonable. Parking was offstreet and no extra charge.
Nice location in Pacific Grove, walking distance to the sea trail. Rooms are big with a lot of space, the whole area is very nice and family friendly, with shared barbecue space and a nice garden.
It was a nice stay in a great location downtown Pacific Grove. Very surprised with the wine and cheese hour daily. The room was quiet and comfortable. Gosby house made us feel at home
Incredibly clean and well-run motel on Asilomar Drive in Pacific Grove with lovely fresh rooms. The house-keeping staff are amazing with their diligence.
