Location was easy to find and the staff was helpful!
Overall, the Putney Inn is a small, hidden gem. While some of the room furnishings are a bit dated, the beds are new and very comfortable. The owners are in the process of renovating the rooms, so the bathroom plumbing, fixtures and overall room lighting are very up to date. The AC works well and is not overly loud, but you still have the option to open windows - which l love. Honeysuckle on the property was in bloom during my stay, making the fresh air fragrant.
One potential downside when opening the windows: the motel is literally just off I-91 Exit 4. You will hear some highway noise (but it's not overly loud unless some trucker decides to serenade you with his horn). While not visible from the property, the motel is only a quarter mile west of New England Central Railroads' tracks. Freight trains will occasionally pass through during late night and early morning hours. They are required to whistle as they pass the neighboring crossing / river access road. Amtrak also passes through here twice daily (just before 1 PM and just after 5 PM unless there are significant schedule delays).
I had a few minor inconveniences on my last stay due to ongoing renovations: my room didn't have closet and I couldn't park in front of my room door because there was landscaping materials in the parking space.
However, because of the rooms' overall comfort, size and very good Wi-Fi signal, the Putney Inn is quickly becoming my favorite place to stay when I'm in the Brattleboro area.

Rural, no place for dinner.
Rural, no place for dinner. Someone suggested a restaurant in downtown Brattleboro, Whetstone Station~ which turned out to be delightful. We sat outside overlooking the Connecticut River. Staff very friendly and food tasty.
Inn looked deserted when we arrived but parking and entrances are on the back side of the inn and eventually the parking lot was full.
We ate breakfast at the Putney Diner~maybe 1/2 mile from inn.

When you 1st pull in you will only see one car in the parking lot which was the owners. So you’re probably thinking what the heck? But, thankfully all the others were parked out back near the entrance to their rooms. Restaurant is not functioning on the property and minimal continental breakfast was provided but not mentioned or offered on the Booking.com website? But, they did allow us to use milk for cereal we brought from a gallon in the fridge thankfully.

The nature sights in Putney offer many options to be outdoors to walk, hike or ski. The General store is full of great food, a deli , and gifts. The Putney diner has good food, and the space has local Vermont atmosphere. The round schoolhouse is a beautiful historic building to see. Putney is easy to get around in and local places are well advertised by signs.

This area in Vermont is a great quiet spot to just go out and drive through the countryside. Beautiful streams, mountains, gorgeous homes, and just nature in general. Maple, Maple, Maple everywhere so if you love maple you will definitely be in the right place. Club VT is our favorite place for Lunch and Dinner and the hotel right there on the property is so convenient to it all. Hotel is The Putney Inn. Would highly recommend this area.

The mountains around Putney and quaint little towns and covered bridges, etc., make it a very nice place to tour from.
Love the Putney Co-op. What a nice store! Great small town gathering place. Has a deli and place to dine, if you want breakfast/lunch.
