Less than 1.5 km from the San Antonio River Walk, this hotel features an outdoor pool, fitness centre and free WiFi in all rooms. The staff was so polite helpful no matter what the need was. We so appreciated the accommodations for our pet. So welcomed and a lot of green space for him to be exercised. Also, with pets allowed there was no pet odor anywhere in the hotel. The breakfast was very good. Options for everyone. Thank you for you hospitality!!!!!

The River Walk is less than a mile from this San Antonio hotel. Breakfast is provided daily and rooms feature Free WiFi. An outdoor pool is available at this pet-friendly hotel. We loved this hotel. Rooms were a great size and I didn't hear anybody the time we were staying there. Informed clearly on check in that daily services have to be requested which was totally fine by us, we just changed towels with the housekeeper who was servicing the room next to ours, she was polite and asked if we needed anything else also. Pool area was great on a super hot day, beds comfy and only a 5/10 min stroll to the Riverwalk! So worth the price we paid. Best LQ we have stayed in so far.

The Legend of the West

San Antonio in Texas is home to 2 of the state’s top attractions – The Alamo and the Riverwalk. One of the city’s former Spanish missions, the Alamo was the site of a deadly battle that cost folk hero Davy Crockett his life. The other remaining missions – Concepcion, San Jose, San Juan, and Espada with its aqueduct – are dotted around the city. The attractive Spanish Governor’s Palace also remains.

The San Antonio River runs right through the city, below street level. Known as the Riverwalk, its banks have been cleverly developed to house riverfront restaurants, bars and shops, and are spectacularly lit for Christmas. There are several San Antonio hotels by the Riverwalk which are also close to the Rivercenter Mall, the city’s biggest shopping centre, while La Villita artisan village offers more traditional crafts.

Across the road in Hemisfair is the Tower of the Americas, a tall observation tower with a revolving restaurant overlooking the Alamodome, a huge sports and convention venue, home to the annual Alamo Bowl collegiate football game. Booking.com offers several San Antonio hotels near the Alamodome, and more accommodation near San Antonio Airport.

On the outskirts of the city are Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. The city also hosts the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, one of the country’s biggest Western events.

    River walk was good, would have love to have information...

    River walk was good, would have love to have information about what is around there. But every information booth, was just trying to push their agenda. Some live music venue missed out on a large tab, because I couldn’t find them. Had a great time, great weather around memorial day in San Antonio. More tropical than I thought. Lots of palm trees and lots of people if you are into that kind of thing. Visited the caves outside of town, well worth it on the way in or out of you are driving. I would stay close the main loop on the river walk, Wyndham is at least a 30 minute brisk walk.

    I love San Antonio!

    I love San Antonio! There is always something to do. Such a big place with so many attractions and restaurants. If you try something new every visit you will never be bored. If you need a new food spot, small whole in the wall type place try one of these places: Blanco Cafe Thousand Oaks Cafe Josephine Street Cafe

    My husband and I, as well as two new friends we met from...

    My husband and I, as well as two new friends we met from Stuttgart, Germany, agreed that a day and a half, two days at most, is appropriate for San Antonio. The main attraction, outside of The Alamo, seems to be the River Walk District. We chose to take an Uber to visit some sites outside of the main San Antonio attraction district like The Pearl and The San Antonio Farmers Market. The River Walk District can be a bit touristy - especially with chain restaurants and bars. If you have families, you might choose to take a drive to the five other Missions, the San Antonio Zoo and Six Flags. We recommend taking in some of the local culture at the San Antonio Farmers Market and enjoying a lazy Sunday at The Pearl District (which has a small farmers market, green spaces for eating food from surrounding restaurants and pop-ups, and interesting shopping). Take in some LOCAL (not chain) restaurants for great food and take long walks around San Antonio -- researching the great city history.

    This hotel is central to everything you need in Down town...

    This hotel is central to everything you need in Down town San Antonio. 2 minutes from the Amtrak Station if you are picking someone up. You can walk to the theatres downtown and all of the shopping, including the river walk. I loved the area, and the bonus was at night, when we walked outside, there was a venue next door playing music, and I felt like I was at an outdoor concert. It felt so amazing, and I stay at this location every time in town. Park early, grab a scooter, and zoom around the city all day. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Ask them anything you need to know.

    We were road tripping and would have like 2-3 days to be able to explore. The River Walk is huge and can get a little lost. Use the mapping system they have. You can cover it on foot it is expansive. The Alamo is a nice short $10 self guided tour with good information

Lexi, our waitress for the Ambler breakfast was excellent - great attitude. My son wants to make this a holiday tradition for our family going forward - I agree.

    We just loved the feel of the hotel. The music in the Colonial Room and by the pool were perfect for setting the ambiance of an old hotel. 40s music for breakfast, 50s poolside... it was just absolutely perfect. Such a peaceful place in the middle of San Antonio downtown commotion. We loved being able to walk to the Alamo, river walk, anywhere we wanted to go.
