The lobby and common areas appear to have been recently updated, and were very nice. The front desk staff were very nice and helpful.

The room was a good size and having a freezer and full fridge was very helpful, especially given that there was no ice machine. The staff was very friendly and accommodating!

Amazing place!
Beautiful interior and nicely equipped.
Nice hosts!
The room was spacious and had great air conditioning.
The room was spacious and had great air conditioning. They had blackout drapes and a nice tub. I loved the shampoo and conditioner that was already in refillable dispensers in the tub/shower area. They also had every channel I could ask for with the TV and I was able to access my netflix as well. I will stay there again. Great value.

San Rafael was a great location for our mission of tracing ancestors in Marin County.
It was also easy to get to the San Francisco bay area and beyond.
Plenty of shops within a short drive.
We even took a trip out to Napa while there.

There are lots of restaurants on the main street. There are things to be seen in the surrounding area, but I have seen them before. This trip was to see people. I ate at IHOP, great friendly spot open until 10 pm. Also Phyliss's Giant Burgers - and that's no lie. I also had a very good crepe at the Crepevine Restaurant, which had a large selection of crepes, omelettes, sandwhiches and more.

I actually visited friends in nearby San Anselmo and it was great, shopped a little, walked around the neighborhoods, ate in some truly inspired restaurants, and thought this is a really special little town
To visit. Loved it.

It's a good base from which to visit Marin and other neighboring towns, some that are much more expensive. 4th Street has some good eating, Lundy's and Theresa + Johnny's for breakfast if you need more than Villa Inn's breakfast. Also loved being a short drive (could probably have walked to both restaurants) and to Copperfield's Bookstore.
Also if you can't handle the big city, this is a less intense and cheaper option than staying in San Francisco.
This was a real treat. The property is maintained so well. Everything is in good shape, the rooms are ample and comfortable and the bathroom facilities are excellent. It is very well located just off the freeway and while it looks less stellar than nearby hotels on the same block on the outside, the inside is great! Also, parking is ample and convenient and the manager is very friendly and helpful. It was extremely good value for the money.
The retreat is very easy to reach from Hwy 101 and convenient to San Rafael and environs. You need a car to get around. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was fine. The decor is clearly very well planned for the hosts. It was a little over the top for us but comfortable. Having access to a washer and dryer was great. As it was cold and rainy we couldn't take advantage of any nearby walking trails or outside spaces.
The hotel is in a good location, near a large shopping mall. Free and sufficient parking is available at the hotel.
The room actually has everything you need and is suitable if you just want a place to sleep but otherwise do not have high demands or expectations. I stayed there for two nights and it was fine, but would opt for a different hotel next time which is a bit more modern.
Staff here was excellent. Had a small mix up with my room, offered me an upgraded room and free buffet breakfast. The pool was quite a lively place and great place to mingle and engage in good conversation with other guests. Location and price point were about the best combination for the area. Plenty of parking and shops within walking distance.
Lovely location, close to everything but quiet and peaceful. Very spacious and comfortable, best night’s sleep we’ve had in quite some time! Loved everything about it! The owners were extremely responsive to questions and had excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities. Wish we could have stayed longer!!
Nothing . Horrible ! Horrible ! Please show real pictures! The whole parking lot was smelling weed marijuana ! Dirty rooms ! Lots of weird people around. ABSOLUTELY NOT SAFE TO SLEEP!! We moved to another Hotel
Put no weed or smoking sign
Clean rooms well
Disgusting hotel for $100 plus per night ? Rip off
The place has great location, a few miles to Mission San Rafael, Muir Woods, Golden Gate Bridge. Accessible to fast food restaurants/gas station/grocery outlet. Close to freeways. Housekeeping comes everyday to clean and tidy the room. Presence of Security personnel.
I returned to San Rafael for an outpatient medical procedure and needed a quiet place near the clinic to recuperate. I like the old fashioned simplicity and style of the accommodations and the low price.
The breakfast was sooo good, I kept going back for the juice. I loved that the room looked like an apartment, everything was very clean. This was my first time booking a hotel and I wasn't disappointed.
The convenience to San Rafael. Was attending a REI event at China Camp. The staff was so friendly. The room was spacious, nice layout, and peaceful. Glad not to have a lot of rooms.
NOTHING THEIR SYSTEM WAS DOWN AND REFUSED TO OR COULDN'T CHECK ME IN SO I COULD NOT STAY THERE. I HAD TO GO TO ANOTHER HOTEL AND DEMAND A REFUND FOR MY PAYMENT FOR THIS HOTEL
Desk clerk was very attentive. Good place to stay for a night while traveling or working. Fridge and microwave in room, lots of eateries nearby. Close to downtown San Rafael.
