I was taking a road trip to the Ford Davis Hummingbird Celebration, and wanted to do the trip from San Antonio in two days. Sanderson clearly has a west Texas ambiance. Near by was a walking trail that gave an excellent evening view of the town. Stripes across the street had excellent breakfast tacos!

Very cool old rail road town. There is a hardware store / gift shop / art gallery downtown that is a must see. They have everything you can imagine including a 10 foot chicken that they will gladly sell to you.

Don't bother stopping at the stripes. Unless of course, you want your annual ration of rude and condescending by the women who are employed there. All in less than two minutes. Specially if you are looking to get something to eat after 4 ish, on a Monday or Tuesday, Due to lack of anything else open. Three days later, coming back through was a different story. On the other side of town close to the budget Inn, is the Ranch House. (Closed on Monday and Tuesday) A rustic facility to house the biggest burgers, and the nicest, sauciest waitresses in all of southwest texas. These ladies are packing heat. Yes, pistols high on the hip. GOD bless them, Texas, and send help to the other end of town. Yes, we will stop in Sanderson again.
