The walking paths along the Amargosa River and in the Foothills are both excellent. The dramatic geology. The food at the Crowbar. The local museum. All of these are wonderful features of Shoshone. Nice people, too.

Inn is modern and has good amenities there is use of the pool.
The restaurant opposite the inn is great place to eat.
Shoshone is a small village there is a petrol station open 24 hours pay by card. Small shop. Good place to stay on way to Death Valley or on way to Las Vegas
