Coombs Inn & Suites, hotel in St. George Island

The property is located 950 metres from the Apalachicola River. Each antique-furnished room at Coombs Suites features oil paintings and oriental carpets.

It was similar to staying at a friend’s beautiful house. Very nice but, you couldn’t ask for things that were wrong. The coffee pot didn’t work, not all of the blinds worked, the bathroom door was broken. It’s called a b&b but there is no breakfast and there is not an attendant on premises.

The Gibson Inn, hotel in St. George Island

Built in 1907, The Gibson Inn is a historic 3-level in Apalachicola and listed in the National Registry of Historic Places.

Our room on the street was large and the bed was comfortable. The street noise was NOT bothersome. The bathroom was updated, large and gorgeous. We enjoyed the omelets at breakfast in a nice sunny room. Location was perfect to cute downtown.

Liked that it was quiet, and didn't have high rise buildings anywhere. Enjoyed the charm of going down to the Piggly wiggly to get our stuff, Thank goodness there isn't a main drag like Fort Walton or Panama City and isn't overdeveloped with T shirt shops. We're coming back. Restaurants are first rate. Beaches are pure white "barking" sands. If you want to decompress, this is the place.

We loved it!! Such a cute and quiet place when we visited. We biked everywhere. The beach was absolutely beautiful. Everyone was so friendly!! Historical light house, a state park added extra things to do! We kayaker and paddle boarded on the bay! So so much fun

This was our third trip to St. George Island.

This was our third trip to St. George Island. The properties we've stayed in previously were comfortable, clean and exactly as expected. We love the laid-back natural area of the Island. Convenient restaurants and grocery stores nearby.

    Perfect for a quiet getaway.

Perfect for a quiet getaway. Uncrowded, beautiful, clean beaches. Gorgeous state park with clean, modern facilities. Entire area pedestrian, bicycle, and dog friendly. Several excellent casual dining options on the island, The Blue Parrot, being the standout. Also many more options for dining, shopping and sightseeing in nearby Appalachicola. The best oysters in the world!

St George island is an excellent location for couples, families and very dog-friendly. We were able to walk on sidewalks to local restaurants, especially Paddy's Raw Bar. Exceptional food and staff. When you book a place, we recommend that you look at its location on Google Maps. The St. George Inn for example, has photos on its website that it is a beachfront property. Not so. However the beach is a 300m walk and directly across from the historical lighthouse.

This was our second trip to St. George Island.

This was our second trip to St. George Island. We are drawn to the slow pace of the island. The beaches are clean, beautiful, with tourists. There is also a State Park located on the east end of the island that offers a near private beach experience. We enjoyed renting a golf cart during our stay to explore. Don’t miss the donut shop, but get there early.
