The location in central California makes it a place to stay before heading into the last stretch into the LA area. By the same token, it makes a fine place to stop after leaving busy LA. Alternatives are at Los Banos/Santa Nella about 120 miles north of Turk. Turk has gas stations, fast food places like Carl's Jr. and McDonalds and Subway, as well as a couple of motel choices.
