The Margate Resort, hotel in Winnisquam

Featuring 3 buildings, this waterfront resort is located on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee, offering a private beach and canoe rentals. It is 4.9 km from the centre of Laconia, New Hampshire.

The staff and location was wonderful. They helped fix our room so we were on the side with the lake. We loved being able to go out to the water at night and look at the stars. Just make sure when you book your room you are on the side of the street with the lake, that way you don't have to cross the road to get to all the amenities that they offer. Oh, and breakfast is only offered on the weekends.

Very well equipped location, even if we did not meet her, you could see the host (Amanda) thought of very single detail (bathroom cosmetics) so that our stay was fantastic. Free parking available.

The price you quoted was not the price we paid.

The price you quoted was not the price we paid. Additional, unpublished charges---such as destination fees were added and charged. The cabin was extremely dirty. The amenities advertised did not exist. There was no oven, no microwave and no coffee maker. Going to the beach required a trip down and extremely steep hill, not even close to the beach. There were parking problems between the cabins. This was a truly awful experience on one of the hottest weeks of the year, with only three extremely dirty fans to cool the place down. Talking with other visitors revealed the same problems with charges and amenities. Advertising this place will cost you business on your normally very good site. Patrica Walker

    Check in was a nightmare!

Check in was a nightmare! Waited 20 mins for a person who spoke English to check me in. The room was dirty, bed smelled like wet dog,and the heater didn't work very well. Its a very sketchy place. Will not ever stay here again.

Beautiful great location very relaxing for the most part despite some loud guests but that can happen anywhere. The cabins were very clean and the staff were very friendly. I only wish staff were around when we went to the office to see about using the kayaks they advertise free use of but nobody was in the office sign on door saying they were closed in the middle of the afternoon on a nice day.

We stayed one night as we were going to a concert in the area. I had read reviews about how “rustic” the cabins were. The property more than met our expectations. Yes they are older cabins, but we found them very clean. We would’ve enjoyed staying longer if time had allowed.

This motel is in the heart of the lakes region of New Hampshire but it certainly does not have the beauty it should have. The whole place is outdated. There was 1 uncomfortable couch and 1 hard chair as the only seating options other the the beds. The was not one picture on the wall or any attractive flooring in the room. The cost certainly is not justified for the condition of this motel and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Loved that this property was large & on the lake. All cabins have a nice view of the lake. There is a great viewing deck too. This property allows 2 dogs per cabin. We had 4 dogs (we foster), so we rented 2 cabins. They gave us nice side by side cabins and upgraded one of the cabins.

I loved the rustic charm of The adorable cabin on the lake that we stayed in. We stayed in number 12 which faced east, so we saw the most spectacular sunrises each morning we were there. It's a simpler and relaxing place. Enjoyed the lake campfire and each other's company.

I loved Anchorage at the Lake except for my bathroom shower. I felt like I may fall through and I'm 125 lbs. I would definitely come back with multiple families and rent a few cabins together. I loved that we could bring our dogs and the beautiful views.
