Classic Street Hotel, hotel in Hanoi

Classic Street Hotel is located on ancient Hang Be Street in Hanoi, within 5 minutes' walk from Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Pagoda and Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre.

The room we got was quite basic (for a 4-5 star) but location is perfect, the buffet breakfast was tasty and plenty. Enough choices to eat. Walking out was nice: directly in the old town streets. The bed was good, the balcony (old) good for some laundry (not for sitting). The view is nothing, but the window brings some light. The staff were doing all they can to let you get a pleasant stay. They are all very correct, and often with smiling faces. I would not mind staying here longer.

The traffic was crazy, took a day or two to get used to that. As long as you cross the road without hestitation you wont get run over, the motor scooters will drive around you. Dont try it with the cars!!! Air very poor quality, no blue sky, so if you suffer from asthma make sure you have plenty of medication. Hotel arranged overnight trip to Hanoi, was great. People very very friendly, and food just devine. Apple, you are amazing, you were so welcoming, fun, full of advice and we loved it that you told us where to eat and how to get to places. I will really miss you!!!

Hanoi, a city that pulsates with energy and history, left an indelible mark on my heart during my recent visit. From the vibrant chaos of the Old Quarter to the serene beauty of Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi is a captivating blend of old-world charm and modern dynamism. Exploring its labyrinthine streets, I discovered hidden temples, bustling markets, and mouthwatering street food stalls at every turn. The city's rich cultural heritage is palpable, evident in its ornate pagodas, colonial architecture, and lively traditions. Each encounter with the warm and welcoming locals offered insights into Vietnamese customs and way of life, leaving me with cherished memories.

Hanoi is a huge city with a billion scooters.

Hanoi is a huge city with a billion scooters. You can hear constant noise and hustle. There is definitely too little greenery. People are very money-oriented. There are cockroaches everywhere and stray dogs. There is plenty to see, but two weeks is definitely too much for this city. Buses don't always run according to schedules. It's hard to find a taxi during the rain.

Hanoi was a great place to visit for the city itself but also for the excursions you can do from there.. The excursion companies are very well organized and knowledgeable. The downside was the complete lack of discipline with traffic. It was wild and you always had to be extra careful crossing roads. There were numerous shops for tourists with handmade crafts and silk wear. The prices were very cheap if you compare to elsewhere in the world. But Vietnamese vendors are not that keen on haggling prices.

I specifically went to Hanoi on the advice of a close friend...

I specifically went to Hanoi on the advice of a close friend who raved about the food and cafe culture. I was also interested in remnants of French colonialism, and Hanoi is far better than Saigon, which was part of another "Vietnam". The buildings are weathered and charming. Entrances to many businesses are down dark narrow corridors that open up onto interior courtyards. There is a mix of French and Chinese styles which I found authentic and beautiful. Hanoi is very very noisy and dirty. Motorbikes swarm, beep, and buzz like hornets. They do not stop for you and the way to cross the street is at a slow pace with eye contact and a prayer. The open-air markets are totally medieval with open butchering of meat and stacks of produce and flowers. There are no prices. Street food vendors use hoses to "wash" the dishes which empty into the gutter. If you want to know what life was like in ancient Rome or Tudor England, your questions will be answered. Hanoi is how the world operates outside the G20 countries, which is to say, most of the world. And remember...it's technically a communist country.

This hotel is conveniently located in the middle of Hanoi Old Quarter. Right downstairs there is a famous goose pho shop, and 3 min walk away there is one of the best Banh mi shops. Staff were also very helpful. They called taxis for us, helped us translate food orders, and even told us where to go for a good rate on currency exchange (even though they do currency exchange themselves!) If I could subtract half a point for cleanliness, I would, but, come on, you’re in the middle of the old quarter,...Overall great hotel for a great price

But the best is the staff, everyone was so helpful al the time - they gave us tips of where to eat and what to visit. And you can organise all your tours in the hotel, which great. We had a wonderful stay with this La Sinfonía in Hanoi. The class of the hotel impacts as soon as you enter the foyer, you just say to yourself...Yes! The hotel and especially our room is spotless. It is perfectly placed in between the old quarter and the French quarter. The best of both worlds. Our Concierge (Rose) is such a beautiful human. Her recommendations for eating and sightseeing were superb. They were places that are not obvious to foreigners so seek them out from her. We are indebted to her.

Most of the staff were very helpful and friendly, wanting to go above and beyond for us to have a great experience. They are as lovely as they come.
