Sam Son is getting back its popularity as the most beautiful beach in the North. Hotels and accommodation facilities are sprawling there, so it should be easy to find decent places to stay, compared to a few years a go. You can stay in more fancy hotels such as FLC (modern) or Van Chai (has a better taste, though the facility is a bit older), or one of many 3- or 4-star hotels newly built along the beachfront. Morning walk along the beach followed by a swim in the sea is highly-recommended. Commuting by electric cars is fun too. It costs about 150k VND for a trip around the city. Sam Son is basically a local only. tourist destination,it caters well for the locals,they appear to love it. I thought it was potentially a wonderful spot ,however, it has some dirty and very scruffy areas which spoil the better parts. Nice beach.
Nice beach. Seafood are fresh and not expensive, especially in Tuan Nam 1 restaurant, we had lunch there with incredible head/bone Camu hoa/ fish soup (canh chua ca). Vinh Son restaurant in Vinh Son area, 5km from center, there are good service and nice view sea. Hope we can go there every year in big family above 20 people.
