We came to Peje to go hiking in the nearby hills on the newly established Balkan Trail. An infrastructure to support walkers is in its early days, but easy enough to figure nonetheless. We loved the walking, staying in friendly hotels - and of course drinking lots of Peje beer.

The weather was chilly, but we still enjoyed our 3 days. The area is beautiful and we will need to return during the summer months to explore the mountains. The people were unbelievably friendly (as in all of Kosovo). We made friends with the workers at Coki's Pizzeria near the river. We also enjoyed the walk along the trail on the southern side of the river. There is a small little place to have coffee on the opposite side of the river where you cross the bridge. Very scenic!

Peja is a cool old city with a fun market and several very old mosques as well as an old monastery with a 1,000 year-old mulberry tree. Peja is walkable, but driving in it is the pits. Don;t depend on Google or Apple maps. The mountains and gorge are amazingly beautiful. And where else can you go on a zipline or complete and obstacle course for just 10 euro each?

The town has a very picturesque location There is nothing exceptional about the town itself. It has an Old Bazaar which is in fact not very old, having been reconstructed following damage sustained during the Kosovan War. In the summer I am sure Peje would make a pleasant stopping point, with its multiple coffee shops and restaurants. The big draw to the town is surely its proximity to the Patriarchal Monastery on the outskirts of the town and the Visoki Dečani Monastery, some 12 km from Peje. These are both UNESCO World Heritage sites. Peje also provides a gateway to the Rugova mountains.

City rebuilt after war.
City rebuilt after war. Not well planned but it is amazing to see at this stage. Side walk is not even, be careful.
The price for dinning is very reasonable.
There are two UNISCO monastery - one 6 km and other 10 km from Peje. Must visit sites.
We did not go hiking.

Peja seems perfect for those going climbing/hiking in the nearby mountains. Museum next door is small but interesting.
Decani Monastery is a lovely trip, but needs bus to Decani and then taxi and the same to come back to Peja. 15€ for taxi from Peja.
This is the place to stay if you want a real feel for the warmth & charm of Rugova & its people instead of a cold impersonal hotel with the best ever view, The owners & staff make you feel like part of their family and give wonderful support in every need of your visit ex. tours.& transportation. They speak very good English and their breakfast & coffee are excellent and will accommodate any request if possible!
A haven of sophistication, this hotel redefines elegance with seamless service and an ambiance that whispers luxury at every turn. The host Kushtrim exemplified genuine warmth, ensuring a delightful experience with their gracious demeanor. Attentive and personable, they curated an atmosphere that transformed the stay into a memorable rendezvous of hospitality.
The apartment was comfortable, spacious, and clean. The host was responsive and provided a good breakfast. He gave us hiking recommendations and advice about routing onward. The location was beautiful, quiet and easy to find. We recommend Chalet Kujita as a great place to stay while exploring the beautiful area.
Great location in a historic building, excellent food, and very helpful staff. We used to live in Peja and this was one of our favorite restaurants. They’ve added hotel rooms and it’s the perfect option for your stay in Peja. Accommodations were great and will definitely return!
definitely the best hotel in Peje. Clean rooms, great service, delicious breakfast. Big hotel territory. The manager was always willing to help with car rentals, city logistics, and sightseeing. We agreed to check in later than the stated time. I will come back here again!
Our stay at this apartment was exceptional. Impeccably clean, comfortable, and conveniently located, it exceeded all expectations. The host was friendly and accommodating, making us feel right at home. I highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Peje. 10/10!
The Hotel is located near to border of Montenegro; before "Peje" city. Owner of the hotel was kind and gentle. I dont like to stay at the downtown hotels and this hotel was at a location which wasnt at downtown and at a easy-to-reach place. Overall I can say ok.
Hotel is located in the town centre. Room was clean, had kettle, tea and coffee, fridge. Bed was comfy. The owner was very friendly and helpful, they kept in touch with me before and during my stay in case I needed anything.
The hosts were very kind and helpful.
The room was very clean and the facilities met all our needs. The hotel was easy to find and very good located/
Also, the breakfast was very good :) Would highly recommend !
I love the furnishing of this hotel. The room is spacious and clean. I love the view of mountains from my room. The restaurant is very comfortable. It's easy to get there from the bus terminal on foot.
Everything was perfect. The location the hotel, the rooms. As written in the description and above our expectations :) we had a great stay and everything was well communicated.
The family that runs this hotel is very welcoming and friendly. The location is perfect for exploring the city and area. Erin was lovely and the bed was so, so comfy.
