Daberas Guest Farm, hotel in Augrabies

Situated in Augrabies, Daberas Guest Farm offers self-catering accommodation in the in the Augrabies area. This eco-friendly lodge is reliant on solar power and a water desalination system.

Other worldly. For all those adventurous couples this destination may be a little out of the way from Kakamas but so worth the trip. The scenery, the hosts, the cottage is more than expected. We were able to do many activities from 4 x 4 drive to the most amazing lookout point - hot springs in Riemvasmaak, the wine/gin/brandy tasting at De Mas in Kakamas were easy to access but the drive into the Augrabies by Angelo of Daberas, the warm weather, stars at night, the rose quartz dazzle were food for the soul. Will be back!

The setting is close to the Augrabies falls and other attractions. The host makes you feel very welcome. The braai area and other amenities were excellent. The kitchen is fully equipped....whatever you need is there. We also loved the fact that the property teamed up with other local businesses, and one could buy produce directly from inside the unit. Most importantly.....WORKING AIRCONS!

A visit to the falls is always worth it , what ever the flow rate of water. However it is very clear that despite well trained and friendly staff the site suffers from neglect. A considerable proportion of the view site boardwalks are cordoned off as damaged areas show no sign of being repaired. Flood damage occurred about 18 months ago (so we were told) and it is very difficult to understand why a premier tourist destination does not receive priority from SAN Parks head office. We last visited Augrabies five years ago and heard the same story from staff, little, none or very difficult to get, support from Pretoria. Shame on you SANParks!

Well, the water flow wasn't heavy as I thought we should have waiting till rainy seasons, nonetheless, my trip was good and I wish to see big 5's in my next trip, I did not ask if they have guided tours or it's self drive only.

Augrabies Falls was a highlight of our 5-week visit to South Africa. The earlier downpours had closed the game drive, moon rock and dassie walk, due to water damage. But the falls were spectacular and well worth the trip on their own. We spent 3 hours walking along the banks of the Orange River and then had lunch on the shady restaurant deck, with little monkeys running beneath the tables.

    Augrabies falls was something amazing.

Augrabies falls was something amazing. I travel all over South-Africa, and Augrabies is on the top 3 of my list of most breathing places. The view is spectacular, the air is fresh and the trip through the Karoo was the cherry on top. Everyone is helpful, friendly and a pleasure to be around. I'll recommend it to anyone and definitely do it again despite the 10 hour drive from where I came from.

The falls were amazing to see.

The falls were amazing to see. Many advantage points to view the falls from. Interesting game drive, although animals are challenging to see. Augrbies falls park has a resturant, ablutions and chalets with pools. I would assume it becomes crowded in the busy season. Great area with many citrus and raisin farms

What I liked about the place was the absence of crime.

What I liked about the place was the absence of crime. I would have liked a bit cruise and a game drive but that could not happen because of the high level of the river and damages of the floods. I wish that information could have been provided then I could have planned better.

Absolutely loved this guesthouse! Everything about this place is perfect. The room is spacious and has all amenities needed, including a kitchenette. Spotless clean. Big patio with bbq facilities, beautiful garden and surrounding, very nice pool with towels and sun loungers and a kind and attentive receptionist (Mandy). We added breakfast (150 rand pp) and it was well worth it. Location perfect to the Augrabies falls - 5 km. Highly recommended!

The staff members were super friendly and truly a blessing! The room was well equipped and no extras were needed. Even microwaveable bean bags for the cold nights! Would recommend to anyone in need of accommodation near Augrabies. Also very close to the Augrabies Falls National Park. Looking forward to visit you again in the future! Truly a place where my soul found rest.

Nice rooms, clean and tidy. Comfortable beds. Had dinner every night, food was very good and reasonable priced. Good breakfast. We went to the falls, which was a bit disappointing as the water was low. The hotel recommended to go to Kamphues resort. This was a place not too far. Nice place with hiking, mountain biking and canoeing. Also had a tasty lunch there.

The food was absolutely great. The setting and surrounding is stunning. The atmosphere at dinner was that of a typical farm community getting together and having fun. This was one of the most pleasurable stay-overs we've ever had. It's also within a few minutes of the Augrabies falls -- which is why we were there.

This is a gem a few km from the Augrabies Falls. The building dates back to the 1950s, but this has given it character, and the decor works. The rooms are clean, and comfortable, and the food was good. The staff were really helpful and friendly.
