The aim was to see as much of the Hluhluwe Game Reserve as possible. Using Booking.com we were able to have two full days in the Reserve. We saw many animals including Cheetah/ elephants /Rhino / Buffalo/ Zebra /warthog and a variety of buck.
The area is well known for its sweet pineapples which are readily available on the roadside.
Suggestion: book secure accomodation and bring mosquito repellent

Amazing park!!!
Amazing park!!! A pity we didn’t get to see any of the cats but it was still an amazing experience. We did a self drive and the roads were manageable with the Toyota urban cruiser so not necessary a 4x4. However we went in the dry season so be careful if you go during the wet season as I think a 4x4 would be needed. Amazon place where I would love to go back. Memorial gate- cash only. Nyalazi gate - cash or card. R5 for the maps.

We enjoyed our stay at Anew Hluhluwe, the facilities were great, the buffet was really good with a variety of options and friendly staff. I loved the Zulu dancing entertainment, it was a great vibe in the evenings. The front desk staff were pleasant and it was very convenient to book the safaris at the hotel. We had an incredible guide, Israel who took us on a morning safari, he was so knowledgable and we saw 4/5 Big 5. My disappointment was that I booked to spend my birthday at this hotel and I stated on my booking that I would like something special done for the evening at dinner, I reminded the staff at check-in and the dinner staff the day before, yet my bday was not acknowledged the next day at dinner. I was extremely disappointed as this is where I chose to spend my birthday with a short vacay. I did make the front desk staff and manager aware of this on check out.

We love visiting all the amenties that was around Hluhluwe.
We love visiting all the amenties that was around Hluhluwe. fot eg, the cheetah interation, Umfolozi game reserve etc We ate at the Railway breweries, steers and KFC. We got around with our own car. Not sure if I would avoid anything
The staff go out if their way to assist you with last minute requests.Nyala Unit 7 is comfortable and spacious and has everything you need in a self catering kitchen. Walter, one of the staff members went out his way to assist us as we had car troubles on day of check out and the lodge did not make us feel like they wanted us out the lodge to clean up for the day even though check out is at 10am. Chalets equipped with load shedding lights which are very useful. Peaceful, relaxing bush setting.
We had the most amazing weekend away at Hluhluwe River Lodge! The food was exceptional, the location of the property was great, we were close to all the activities that we wanted to do. We loved our dinner visits from the local Genet. The hosting was brilliant! We had some lovely conversations with the owner and the manager about the history and rich culture within the area! We can’t wait to visit again! Thank you for a special Anniversary getaway Hluhluwe River Lodge!
AMAZING! We stayed at Hluhluwe Bush Camp on two different nights, and both were INCREDIBLE. The staff are extremely friendly, very accommodating and the atmosphere is very homey, comfortable and clean. The tents are very tranquil and have everything to offer. Spectacular experience. We were breathless from the whole experience. We loved every moment and will be back again!
The towel features were just a delight. The small touches go a long way.
There is a narrow dirt-road to climb to get to the place, but then you are over a hill in a slightly wild place but with a view on a portion of the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park: with some luck, you can already spot animals!
It is at no more than 5 minutes from the HluHluwe gate of the park, perfect for an early drive!
The host was extremely kind and helped us with all our needs!
My two friends and myself were at this place for a weekend. Everything was perfect. The house is clean, bedding. It was beyond our expectations because they are new on Booking.com
We were their first guests... I highly recommend this place...
I shall visit again soon. Thank you Rudi and Heidi for everything... Your prices are reasonable but your place is perfect
The food at Hluhluwe river lodge was out of this world!! Breakfast and supper was first class. My wife and I went on honey moon and we were blown away. They accommodated us with everything we needed. Very considerate as they even helped us arrange game drives and activities in St Lucia. Amazingly friendly staff!! Nothing but compliments for Hluhluwe River Lodge

Friendly and accommodating staff.
Great central location 15 minutes from Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Gate. Very clean & cosy. Great bed that was so comfy. Somehow Booking.com had our dates wrong, but Hlulala thankfully had space & accommodated us.
A nice getaway, close to Hluhluwe game reserve - easy access to day visits. A comfortable "modest" cottage. We enjoyed the view of the dam and loved that the Bushbabies visited us.

The entire experience was good. The game drive to hluhluwe, xmas dinner and super friendly staff. The manager / supervisor Rebecca has great client skills, she is wonderful.
Great location close to Imfolozi Hluhluwe Park, set in amongst natural forest and easy to get to. Outstanding restaurant, Delish, at the entrance to the Kuleni Game Park.
