Set in Howick, within 1.9 km of Howick Museum and 2 km of Howick Falls, Drewry Lane offers accommodation with a garden and free WiFi throughout the property as well as free private parking for guests... Had such an amazing weekend at Drewry Lane. The room was spotless. Absolutely loved the all white interior of the room, absolutely stunning. The Victorian bathtub was a plus . The lighting was stunning and bed was so comfortable. And of course the garden outside was an absolute plus. The whole place was just so serene and tranquil. Definitely coming back soon !
Situated at the start of the Midlands meander route, Little Fields Country House is set on a 12-hectare working farm, on the outskirts of Howick. We loved the attention to detail. From fresh milk in the fridge to the soap and cream in the bathrooms. Everything was just amazing.
Offering an outdoor swimming pool and city view, Idavold Cottages is situated in Howick, 6 km from Fairways on Main Shopping Centre and 7 km from Howick Museum. We enjoyed the little details like lavender flowers, some items in the fridge and the cleanliness.
The Howick falls, the Mandela capture site, the Midmar dam, and all these little small coffee shops,,, Didn’t have enough time to explore other things... I didn’t like that some of the roads are badly damaged, wish the municipality would fix them because long term this would affect tourism in the area
Howick is a beautiful place and has excellent tourist sites, unfortunately since our lockdown and Covid, these sites are still closed to tourists. We were planning on doing the hike down to the Howick Falls and that too was closed. Also many restaurants, hotels, pubs etc, were also closed or had gone out of business. Just a bad time for tourism at the moment.
Cottage was very comfortable. Would recommend ceiling fans or moveable fans in the cottage, very hot at night (summer). Flies were a big problem!!! Overall a lovely clean cottage, definatley recommendable!
Howick is a lovely little town with great restaurants and friendly people. Its near enough to other attractions too. Farmers Daughter is a particular favorite restaurant, with Yellowood cafe having lovely views of the Howick falls. Piggly wiggly is also just around the corner for all your crafty and wine needs. The St Ives Boma across the road is also a firm favourite to have a gin or beer overlooking a beautiful dam. There are also various trail runs and MTB tracks nearby for the more adventurous. The only gripe I have is the filth at the Howick falls viewpoint. There is rubbish lying everywhere and no one seems to want to clean it up. Its a terrible shame.
Howick falls remain one of the best places to see when u r in Howick. The last time I visited the place was in the 1990s, and its still breathtaking. Also the Mandela capture site, has so much history for our country.
We visited over 3 days. Accommodation was at 11 Karkloof which we found to be clean, inexpensive and central to our activities. Karkloof Canopy Tours was definitely a highlight. The staff there are amazing, from reception to the guides. Definitely a must do when you're there. A huge disappointment was at Howick Falls. At the viewing area there was no security, no control. We were slightly harassed by a small group of men that had just run a marathon. On top of that a lot of people were throwing papers and stones from the viewing platform. We were there not longer than 10 minutes as the situation became uncomfortable. Really not a good impression for tourism. All in all we enjoyed our stay in Howick and are planning to return.

The ambience, the beautiful linen and the hot water bottles.
