As a place to stay, Knysna is rather small, and moreover less secure after dark than other places. Knysna and its islands/view points can e.g. easily be visited from Plettenberg where there is much more choice in terms of restaurants. 1 day is more than enough for Knysna.

The views are magnificent.
The views are magnificent. The surrounding areas are also very worthy of visits. Plettenburg Bay, Tsitsikamma, Sedgefield and Wilderness are excellent. Something great to do every day!
Knysna itself is a little run down and touristy, after all it straddles a motorway (N2), but there are places that are tucked away which are charming.....one goes there however for the views!

Knysna is a quaint town surrounded by lush forests and a stunning lagoon. The iconic Knysna Heads are simply mesmerizing. The clothing shops are a bit pricey and one has to ensure you have enough spending money to have a good time.
We enjoyed our meals at Thirty-Four South. Knysna is definitely a tourist
destination.

Lovely beach community with a ton of places to explore outside of the village. The village itself has a ton of breakfast and dining options. One in particular "The Nest" was absolutely wonderful.
From Knysna it's an easy drive to several beaches, we enjoyed the beaches on Leisure Island as well as Buffalo Beach just outside of town. A drive to "The Heads" is also an absolute must! Stunning views of town and the mouth of the bay. Easy to find on Google Maps.
Knysna is also wonderful central location to also see other sites both to the North and South. To the North it's an easy drive to Plettenberg Bay to visit the Sanctuaries of Birds of Eden, Monkey Land and Elephant Park (all located in the same area). There is also Knysna Elephant Park for something closer.
To the South it's an easy 35 min drive to the town of Wilderness. Here we were able to rent kayaks with Eden Adventures located on the grounds of the Fairy Knows Hotel. The local kayak route takes you on a gentle glide up the river to the local waterfall, very easy and highly recommended.

It is such a beautiful, well maintained property.
It is such a beautiful, well maintained property. So tranquil, relaxing and comfortable. The rooms are fantastic. We were celebrating our anniversary and the lodge made us feel truly special. All the staff are so friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. A special thanks to Unathi, Elijah and Norman. I highly recommend this wonderful accommodation.
The place is spacious with a very good view to Knysna lagoon, also full of fruit trees and lovely veg garden, fresh eggs from chickens… The hosts and helpers are very friendly and helpful, there was a hot water issue during our stay but they came assist immediately and offer the alternative. The location is convenient to everywhere but we also enjoyed just relaxing and chill in the estate which surrounded by a sweet dog Emily, playful cats(ginger and shadow), birds, deer… very tranquil and peaceful stay.
We arrived at the Premier hotel Knysna shortly before lunch and we were greeted by super friendly and helpful staff. We were too early for check in, but we relaxed at the pool with drinks, entertainment (bingo!) and an awesome pool-side lunch. We immediately felt like we were finally on holiday. The room was massive, the food was amazing and the staff were incredibly attentive. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone searching for comfort, style and friendly staff. Breakfast was amazing and fresh.
Where to start ?
It´s a beautifull and luxurious guesthouse in a quiet residential area with stunning view of the lagoon.
The whole place is kept immaculately.
But the real reason you shoud definitely stay here are Roeleen and Steve. You couldn´t feel more at home while on holiday. They take excellent care of their guests, can provide you with a wealth of information on things to do, but are above all just lovely and fun people.
For us they are reason enough to come back to Knysna.
The accommodation was great with excellent staff on site. The rooms were large and very clean. Spacious bathroom and it had everything you would need, including a shower cap. Breakfast was a lovely spread and you have the option of doing a full breakfast or hot or cold and the charge works accordingly which is really nice. There are lovely restaurants very nearby and the property is walking distance from the waterfront. Generally a wonderful hotel experience.
We were treated like royalty from the start! They upgraded our room on arrival :) Loveliest friendliest staff. The hotel itself was a joy - historical building with each room having a unique theme making reference to the old power plant. Despite this, the hotel is quirky and modern, with lovely facilities.
Location 10/10 - on thesen island which is where you want to be in knysna. Our room was gorgeous and overlooked the lagoon.
We stayed in the 3* property previously known as the Graywood Hotel.
The room was very clean and exceeded our expectations.
Location of the accomodation was very good and it was walking distance to the Knysna waterfront.
As for safety, the street towards the waterfront is safe to walk after it gets dark. Good to also check with the staff on the safety expect. Seafood at the O Pescador Restaurant was amazing.
Belvidere Manor is nestled in a superb location alongside the Knysna Lagoon. The setting is beautiful, festooned with flowers and walking paths. The comfortable cottages are large enough for a small family, simply furnished but with all required amenities. The on-site Bell Pub is a gem but watch out - the portions are huge! Easy access by car off the N2 as well as to all the sights of Knysna.
Double Dutch is magic, and the ladies who run it are amazing. A short drive off the main access road to Knysna, the B&B has amazing views of the waterfront and the Knysna Heads. The property itself is beautifully designed and maintained, and the rooms are excellent. Breakfast is prepared by the owners themselves and starting your day watching the scenery is bliss.
Check-in process was simple and easy.
The place is extremely beautiful and huge. The views were exceptional and the finishings inside house were modern, clean and beautiful.
The estate is close by to the Pezula hotel, the Knysna heads, Knysna waterfront, Thesen Islands, and to grocery outlets, giving you many options on things to do on your stay
A luxurious and peaceful place for relaxation in 15 minutes drive from Knysna Waterfront. Rooms are really spacious, you also have a balcony or a private garden with a private hot tub. Yes, your own hot tub in your garden!:) Since it is the golf club’s hotel, you can walk around beautiful golf courses (if you’re not a player)
What a great place to overnight in Knysna. Affordable rates and delicious breakfast.
Excellent view over lagoon. Its clear the host runs the property to high standards, with attention to detail.
Well done Anita, will definately visit again.
Situated right on the waterfront, next to the Knysna waterfront, it has every amenity you will need while on holiday. It is truly a magnificent home. The best part is that the home has an inverter, so we not inconvenienced by loadshedding.
The hotel is located a few minutes away from the knysna waterfront which is very convinient. The hotel and rooms have modern finishes. The staff were very friendly and made our stay comfortable.
Location was genius as well as the suberb chalet and the great view on the Knysna Lagoon . We should not forget James who has been a super friendly host, always eager to help .
Such a beautiful place - spacious, comfortable, and right on the water. Also right at the Waterfront attractions. Excellent place to relax, and appreciate the lagoon area.
Breakfast is over the top.
Hotel is designed beautifully and the pool has a great view of thesen island. Hotel is walking distance from the waterfront.
