Was quite surprised by the wine tasting opportunities nearby in Calitzdorp. The Safari Ranch was great, Cango Wildlife Park was exceptional, excellent managed facility. The Buffelsdrift Game Lodge elephant experience was a bucket list type experience. The Chandelier Game Lodge Buffalo as well as Giraffe experience was awesome.
The Total Garage opposite the quaint Nostalgia Restaurant are friendly and have decent wood that is affordable. The Spar is well stocked and there is an emergency Clicks Pharmacy that supports that requirement.
All and all a pleasant holiday destination with many activities to plan over the course of a week visit.

Cango Caves - do the adventure tour.
Cango Caves - do the adventure tour. Conservation Centre - as ethical as sanctuaries open to the public can be, see a huge range of animals. Meerkat Tours - fun and cute but quite overpriced and the owner is horrendously misogynistic. Nostalgie restaurant - food was amazing, however park immediately in front of the restaurant and not any further - there are 'parking attendants' that demand money, and even after paying one the others come and intimidate you (banging on the car and throwing gun symbols).

Perfect place to stop over for the night or two.
Perfect place to stop over for the night or two. Other than that there is not much to do here.
You can find big supermarket for every day shopping. We eat at hotel restaurant as not much choice. A lot of powerful like in most places in SA, just got to be careful where and when you go out.

What a lovely clean and friendly town with a lot to offer.
What a lovely clean and friendly town with a lot to offer. We went for a lovely wine pairing and pizzas at Karusa winery and also drove on the gravel road from Oudtshoorn to De Rust past the beautiful Rustica Olive Farm.
The farm is about 7km away from the center of Oudtshoorn in a quiet area. The last 2km on gravel road. We stayed in room no 17.
The rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished in a modern style. Big bathroom with separate toilet, bathtub and big shower. Most rooms have a balcony with nice views and additional hanging chair. We enjoyed a very good breakfast. The farm offers enough parking facilities as well, good value for money!
In case you are interested in a Meerkat Tour, book it directly through the hotel, as they offer a good discount!
Excellent value for money and good place to relax and avoid the Oudtshoorn heat. We survived there +40C comfortably
Three small swimming pools and lot of trees provide needed relief. It is also quite beautiful and we would love to stay there for longer. Very convienient for Cango Caves
Very good for kids - not only pools, but also small ostriches (it has a real working farm attached, so it is not a touch and play place, but the real stuff) and bunch of antilopes and roes
One can even make own braii
Brilliant breakfast buffet
Small boutique type hotel with a few cottages. Lovely unique feel to it. We were only there for 1 night but had a lovely relaxed time. Balcony overlooks beautiful garden where you can see the sunset with a drink. Lots of lovely restaurants walking distance. Very helpful owner. Breakfast was absolutely delicious with food made to order. We loved the banana pancakes! Would stay there again if we went to Oudtshoorn
Great location and peaceful. Great spot for families as children will have much to do with animals on the grounds. A generally relaxed atmosphere. It’s also fabulous to have had both breakfast and supper facilities apart from the self catering options. Would go back. The staff gave us a better room than we booked and the atmosphere all round is peaceful and relaxing.
Hotel staff was very pleasant and accommodating (especially with our late night check-in). The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. The bedding was so comfortable, we didn't want to leave. Free parking in this gated accommodation complex. Everything you could want for your stay in Oudtshoorn - centrally located. Will definitely stay here again!
We had a quick stop overstay in Oudtshoorn, and found this gem! Beautiful interior and finishes, with very attentive hosts! The beds are super comfy and breakfast can be delivered into your rooms in the morning if you'd like, otherwise there is plenty of space to sit and enjoy it in the main foyer! You can lounge by the pool or cuddle up inside on a rainy day!
We stayed for two nights and the hotel suited is very well. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a separate kitchenette and dining area, ideal for self catering. The grounds are extensive with a variety of animals roaming around. Breakfast was good and the staff helpful and friendly. A children friendly hotel.
Great location for anyone who wants to spend some peaceful time in Oudtshoorn. Thank you so much to Hannette for making this an extra enjoyable stay! With her on your side you'll find the best restaurants and places to visit. A warm, super-friendly experience with a wonderful host!!
Great old historical hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially the breakfast staff. They provided great service and extra info on places to visit around Oudtshoorn. The pool was welcoming and great to cool down in the summer heat. Comfortable beds.
The hosts Daniel and Sonja were so nice and organized a table for Dinner at a wonderful restaurant. The rooms have colonial charme and the breakfast was amazing. If we come to Oudtshoorn again we definitely know where to stay.
Staff was amazing! The views were awesome. Pool was lovely and clean. Food for dinner was fantastic. Rooms were beautiful, neat and clean. Wifi all around the hotel, which is essential and awesome now days.
