Dune Ridge Country House, hotel in St Francis Bay

This family-run country house on the outskirts of St Francis Bay offers a lagoon-shaped pool surrounded by birdlife and gardens. All accommodation has a private patio and garden views.

We were greeted as we arrived and all the staff were very friendly. The room was very spacious and the bed was huge and extremely comfy. Everything was spotlessly clean and there was a well stocked mini bar. Excellent breakfast with a good menu. Nice touches were that the bed was turned down and a scented diffuser lit. Dinner was not available on the day we arrived (which we knew about) but Sarah recommended a local restaurant and booked it for us, it was superb. ( called the Never Mind).

We ate at Mauros restaurant and the food was really good but the place that blew our minds for the service, food and atmosphere was the Rambling Rose. They went out of their way to help and with me being vegan ..... went the extra mile to accommodate me. The setting of the restaurant was also beautiful and relaxing. The roads, except for the main road are in very poor shape and made driving around unpleasant .... not sure if I would be in a hurry to go back .... which is sad because we used to spend all our holidays there when our children were younger .... early eighties to early nineties.

Lovely beach walks---at St Francis Bay and nearby Cape St Francis. both of which are very attractive to surfers. Well provided with a variety of restaurants and shops. St Francis Bay suffers, as do many towns, from a lot of plastic litter, both of the beach and in the bushes.

    A beautiful coastal village.

A beautiful coastal village. Multi-faceted, with canal-living for amazing water activities, the Port for fishing boats, Cape St. Francis, and two great golf courses. Diverse, outdoor opportunities with nature walks; longer hikes; cycling trails; old-fashioned family beach days; kite-surfing, jet-skiing, water skiing; SUP; and whale watching. In season still has manageable traffic congestion, and there’s always a parking bay to be found. A few delicious deli options, including vegetarian/vegan, three wine stores, well-stocked supermarket; surf shops, designer kitchen and decor shops and eclectic clothing stores. Coffee shops; a range of live music venues and spa facilities. Not as overwhelmed by visitors compared with other coastal hotspots in season, a very chilled, sociable community, more Lycra than Linen😎

Lovely town, lovely beaches, nice restaurants.

Lovely town, lovely beaches, nice restaurants. Would recommend for a long weekend getaway. Had a boat cruise, lasted an hour which was just a tour of people's houses, didn't even leave the area we were in so first check the route of the cruise before deciding which one to take. Great place for relaxing
