We last visited Yzerfontein in the early ‘70’s, when there was little more than a handful of single story houses and no commercial development. The way it looks today was quite a surprise - and not a pleasant one! What a confusing tangle of roads, too many “sleeping policemen”, and not enough street name signs. Furthermore, we were shocked to see how few of the many eateries offer line fish on their menu, other than the usual fish and chips. On the up side, there is an excellent SuperSpar, and a fabulous artisanal bakery/coffee shop. As for the restaurants, rather plan on self-catering! It is quite alarming to see the number of large double story holiday homes that are vacant, and apparently are seldom used more than once or twice a year - Easter and Christmas.

A friendly, laid-back community. There are more new houses than old giving it a fresh and vibrant feel. The wind can get you at certain times of the year. If they could heat the sea a bit it would be perfect!!! The Rosemead bakery is out of this world!!! West coast tranquility at its best. Has an open unspoiled feel, admittedly I was there during the week and it was slightly chilly hence beach visit was not applicable. But the scenery and calmness of the area provided food for the soul. We had some excellent meals... The Greek Place was a small gem. Best Kleftiko I've eaten anywhere.Noeline - 10Scored 10

Beautiful quiet neighborhood and stunning beaches and sea views from the unit There were more than enough eateries to chose from so I didn't have to prepare any meals, which was amazing!!! Yzerfontein basically is the best place for a complete reset and such a beautiful little gem on the West Coast.

We purposely went out of season, as we do not like crowded areas. Yzerfontein met the requirement after the schools reopened at the end of the school holidays. There are many places to stay and we think we have found the perfect spot.DirkSouth Africa

The bed was super comfortable, and the kitchen was fully equipped with all that we needed to cook meals or to braai. Edith and Warwick were great hosts with great attention to detail, making our stay a memorable one. Yzerfontein is truly a special little village. The view was beautiful, and we loved seeing the little bits of natural nature. We will definitely be back 🌊⛱️🥂
