I’m so glad that we booked 2 nights - you’ll regret leaving after just one night. We didn’t see the lake monster, but did have beautiful aurora borealis shows both nights. This was our favorite place to stay on our whole trip around Iceland.

Set on a traditional Icelandic farm, Setberg Guesthouse is located outside of Höfn, a 14-minute drive from the seaside village centre. Located at the foot of mountains, you can enjoy the impressive view from the room or go hiking for a closer look. The room was cosy and super clean. The living room and kitchen area is well equipped. All amenities are available. The view from the window was amazing. The location is good for aurora watching at night too.

A TV is featured in the shared living room. We loved this amazing little cabin at the foothills of the mountains! So peaceful and relaxing. The hot tub was fantastic and had incredible views. Hosts were amazing and had 2 very friendly and playful dogs. Close to a glacier which we managed to have to ourselves after a morning hot tub. Heating and hot water in the cabin was great. Beds very comfy.

Spread over 2 buildings, Skorrahestar offers basic guest room accommodation with shared or private bathroom facilities. All have access to a communal kitchen, dining area and lounge area. This was our best stay while exploring Iceland: amazing hosts, quiet and clean rooms, super spacious dining area and kitchen, a separate huge common space with 2 pianos …and a jacuzzi in the evening on the roof between 2 mountains! Socializing and sharing tips about travel with the other guests. Nice breakfast in the morning and Paskahellir site with blueberry fields in late August just around the corner. Totally worth the trip off the ring road!!

Skalanes Nature Heritage Centre is 19 km from Langahlid Cottages, while Egilsstadir town centre is 29 km away. This place was incredible. Everything from the jaw dropping views to the small details, like robes in each room, was over the top. You can tell the owners have put their love into what they do. Best place we’ve stayed in Iceland.

The recently renovated villa has 3 bedrooms, a flat-screen TV with streaming services and a fully equipped kitchen that provides guests with a dishwasher, an oven, a washing machine, a toaster and a fridge. Guests can take in the views of the mountain from the terrace, which also has outdoor furniture. There is also a seating area and a fireplace. It's a very comfortable and beautiful place. There's all of the amenities we can possibly need. The host was a delight as well, very nice, helpful and comprehensive. Heated floor in the main entrance, café machines and drying and washing machines also available. It was a really a modern house with a comfy outlook. Comfortable beds and big nice dining table. We loved it.
