Against the stunning backdrop of Skiddaw and the Uldale Fells, this 18th-century country house is set within 18 acres of beautiful gardens and woodland, and guests can spot resident red squirrels, deer, and rabbits in the extensive grounds.

We only had an overnight unfortunately. Its a secluded spot, but the grounds are beautiful with lovely short walks. we loved the building, the decor and the staff. Wonderful people, lively conversation and great knowledge of the area.

We stayed 5 nights and it was just overwhelming. The cottage ist situated in a scenic landscape, right at the edge of Ireby. It is a perfect starting point for exploring the lakes and the Cumbria coast, with Keswick, Buttermere, St. Bees and other places of interest in easy reach. Rooms are spacious, recently renovated and very quiet. The breakfast is excellent, and so is the three course menu that you can have for dinner: fresh, using local produce whereever possible, varied and nicely served. Simply delicious. What makes this place stand out beyond all this is the hosts: their hospitality and care, their attention to detail, and their passion to provide guests an experience they will remember - we definitely will.

Loved the location as it was so peaceful no matter what time of the day and especially loved the dedicated dog walking area which on a clear day you can actually see Scotland from. The caravan we stayed in (Elite 1) was immaculate and by far the best one I've ever stayed in. I'd highly recommend this place and will 100% be coming again.

Location is excellent, lovely views and very peaceful. Had excellent weather whilst visiting apart from the day we arrived as it rained all day. Log burner was good and a small portable heater was provided. Went to use the garden to take advantage of the sun and the views, lovely and peaceful whilst drinking a G&T (or two). We would go back again as the size and location of the property was absolutely ideal, loved it. Sun pub in the village was welcoming and did good food.

We did not have breakfast provided. The location was stunning. Absolutely beautiful. It was lovely to have birds nesting close by too that we could watch. It was very quiet and the little hamlet of Bassenthwaite is very pretty.

An amazing 'get away from it all' place in a stunning location. The lodge was beautiful and spotlessly clean. Everything you needed was there with added touches of luxury. Would definitely stay again. A car is needed if you want to explore local towns or amenities, but plenty of good walks close by. Very quiet location with amazing views of the surrounding mountains.
