Set in a 45-acre estate with stunning woodland stretching to the banks of the River Nith, the 19th century Friars Carse Country House Hotel offers 23 bedrooms and cottages and is situated 6 miles from Dumfries town centre. This fine Scottish Baronial Hall has a magnificent paneled entrance hall with an elegant staircase and offers guests a spacious lounge with an open fire, overlooking the gardens and river. The Friars Carse benefits from a lift to all floors.

All the staff were brilliant, the check in staff, the housekeeper, the Restuarant staff were especially excellent. The building was magnificent both internally and externally. Breakfast was fabulous with a wide choice of help yourself items plus a full cooked Scottish breakfast with many extra's if you really wanted them. The room was large with plenty of storage, the shower was double size. The value was excellent. The on site Riverside Walks are brilliant and the Hotel didn't charge for the map they provided.

Lovingly renovated and cared-for, family-run property in quiet, countryside location, near to the historical town of Dumfries. Room spacious and tastefully furnished, as is the guest lounge. Very good breakfast and dinner options in fabulous dining rooms. Thank you to Janice, George I and George II, for making us feel so welcome. Highly recommended.

Room was big and spacious and the grounds were beautiful (minus the incomplete extension). Very quiet and peaceful through the night. The staff were lovely, friendly and welcoming. Would return for their hospitality alone.

The property is clean, really comfortable and has amazing views. It's so peaceful and quiet due to the location. Would highly recommend staying here. The property has everything you need and the included breakfast was good. As it was Easter, Jan had included some hot cross buns and an Easter egg. Lovely finishing touches.

Lovely cottage with private garden in the countryside. Nice views and not too far from Dumfries centre. Good location for traveling to many places. Everything you need in the cottage includes large flat screen TV with dvd player and dvds. Also many games and books. Bedrooms were very spacious. The beds and pillows were very comfy, as was the sofa. It was very peaceful and quiet - only the sound of wildlife. I wish we had been able to take a couple more days yhere.
