Just a few minutes’ walk from Oxford city centre, the Head of the River is situated on the banks of the scenic River Thames. This traditional inn features a riverside terrace and a stylish restaurant.

The elegant bedrooms are individually decorated, and some have river views. All rooms feature a TV and a private modern bathroom with free toiletries. Guests will find bathrobes and slippers in some rooms.

We expected that the hotel would be quite noisy, especially as we had a room beside the beer garden and close to the road. However this was never an issue. We also thought the hotel may have been a bit far from the High street, but it was an easy walk to all the tourist attractions. And to stroll along the river was quite idyllic.

Great ambience and lovely decor down to the smallest details. Kudos to the interior designer! Staff were very friendly and helpful with any queries. I stayed in a single room as travelling alone, prior reviews made me worry slightly about size and amenities but it was just perfect! Modern and stylish shower room with Victorian touches like taps/faucets and lamp shades.

Beautiful, well equipped boutique hotel and just 20 minutes walking distance to the center of Oxford - or a quick bus ride. (There are complimentary bikes on site.) We had a beautiful room, with quirky, cool decor. The staff were lovely and the car park big so convenient. The Lolly bar on the second level was a nice touch and the train that circles the dining area was fun and original. I'd highly recommend and would return if I'm ever in the area again.
