Visa or Mastercard is not widely accepted at all places. and some shops only take Cash but does not have change for larger notes that the ATM's give you.
the Beach front restaurants mostly do take Visa/Mastercard and most CBD hotels. but the further you stay/travel outside Luanda most places only take cash(small notes) and local bank cards.

A normal, chaotic big African city - more expensive than most. Relatively safe to walk around downtown during the day; take care at night. If you need to be there for business, it's better than many 3rd world cities. For tourism, not much to see/do in Luanda. Airports are normal: Completely chaotic

Roads improved a lot . City is relatively clean.
Roads improved a lot . City is relatively clean. You can find good restaurants along the seaside. Taxis are not easy to find so better book a driver. Before arrival it is better to book transfer with a hotel. Airport taxis can be very expensive.

I enjoyed the beauty of the city of Luanda, the metropolitan and beautiful coastal line. I liked the walking along the beach and I was fascinated by the Currency Museum. I did not enjoy the food, but I enjoyed the Cuca.
This hotel is well-located in the heart of the city center. The views are lovely. The hotel is immaculate. It is expensive but they gave us a tremendous value by upgrading our room. I have never seen staff so friendly and kind. They are attentive without being intrusive, willing to do anything to make us comfortable and safe. The restaurants and breakfast are very nice. I hope I will have the opportunity to stay here again.
The room is cosy, clean, perfectly equipped with good quality tv, fridge, kettle and large bathroom with hot water as well as pleasant outdoor area. It is very well located in a pleasant area of downtown Luanda with supermarkets, bars and restaurants nearby. We were comfortable walking around the neighbourhood. The room is very good value for money and the staff were very welcoming. Highly recommend!
My booked apartment was not available so instead I got an even nicer apartment with a great view over Luanda as well. The supermarket AngoMart was visible from my window and had ok priced local produced food which I cooked in the excellent kitchen. Very nice staff at the entrance of the building who helped me with telephone calls and Portuguese. Just a couple of blocks from the Marginal beach walk.
It´s a guest house, but rooms are just like or even better than those in 3 or 4 stars hotels. Staff are amazing. They will do everything they can to help you out. It´s a much cheaper alternative than the very expensive hotels in Luanda. I will definitely stay there again if I go back to Angola.
This was one of those rare experiences with budget accommodation in Africa where everything worked, the host was great, the space was comfortable, the airport transfer was on time, and it could not have gone better!
The staff are excellent. Rooms have everything we need including good AC and a hot shower. Breakfast is good. The hotel will exchange currency at the official rates. Much easier than waiting at long bank lines.
it's a well maintained apartment in central Luanda. All sightseeing spots, attractions and city restaurants are just 10-20 mins drive. Our host was really welcoming and accommodating.
Very good stay at Casas de Luanda. The staff is very welcoming and gentle. The breakfast is really nice. The place is also very quiet which I appreciated.
Location is probably the best in Luanda, its expensive, however that is expected in Luanda. Breakfast is outstanding and a shortage of nothing. Very good
