The town of Kakanj is located near (about a 15-minute drive) the village of Kraljeva Sutjeska, home to a Franciscan monastery with a museum and library housing artifacts and books dating back hundreds of years. The monastery is beautiful, and the library is admirable. Kraljeva Sutjeska was the capital of the Bosnian rulers and the administrative center of the kingdom, while the military fortress was located at Bobovac. A visit is absolutely recommended. There is also a small souvenir shop in the monastery where you can purchase mementos. The entrance fee to the museum is 5 euros. Additionally, about a 20-minute drive from Kraljeva Sutjeska are the Bosnian pyramid sites in Visoko. Guided tours through the pyramids and other locations are available in Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian, and English. It is also recommended to visit. Furthermore, Sarajevo is about a 30-minute drive away. Kakanj is an industrial town that itself does not have significant tourist attractions, but the surrounding areas (Kraljeva Sutjeska, Bobovac, Ponijeri, etc.) are truly beautiful and worth a visit. I must emphasize the kindness and helpfulness of the people of Kakanj; they are wonderful people.
