It is an absolutely charming town nestled in a most beautiful natural environment. The people were all very warm, kind, and helpful, although interestingly, they all (but one person I met) seemed to be from the UK, New Zealand, or Australia. But the accents were great, and so were the people. Next vacation... Australia! Back to Banff... a great getaway whether for skiing in the winter or simply unwinding, reflecting, and pondering the next steps, or getting your dream girl to say "yes" to the ring.

Banff and the surroundings are very picturesque and the towering Rockies add to the grandeur of the place. The ride in the Gondolas and the walk in the snow at the top is something no visitor must miss. Lake Minnewanka in all it's frozen splendour with the cabins in it's midst is spectacular when the sun comes up. Lake Louise - a few Kms away - is also something to behold. All in all a fabulous place to spend a few days.

There was a severe lack of snow this year (an el Niño year) which interfered with some of our planned outdoor activities, and meant we had to drive to Lake Louise for decent snow. We largely avoided downtown Banff because of the large number visitors and tourist shops. Parks staff at the information centre were very helpful.

I liked staying on Banff Avenue and the convenience of walking around town. It was easy to get to the restaurant we chose to eat at and continue on to the Administration Building where the 'In Search of Christmas Spirit' was set up for the fourth year. The lights and story were amazing! I am a fan of winter and would have loved to have more snow - it makes things look magical.
We booked a room with “limited view” on bookings.com. In a resort town like Banff, limited view means there is a view of scenery however limited. Our room is half underground and half above ground with a window to an alley in the back of the hotel. We had to draw the blind all the time because the room is so dark we need to turn on the light. And to protect our privacy we had to close the blind. So “limited view” is a complete misdescription of the room. There is no view. Period. So no we do not like the property.
The location is great. It is around 1km walk or a few bus stops to get to Banff downtown. We had a suite which included a kitchenette but did not have a cooktop. We were in a suit unit but it was a bit small for 4 people after 4 nights. The staff in this hotel was really helpful. Our freezer in our unit was not working properly the day we checked in and immediately, there were 2 different people who came to evaluate the situation and found a solution.
This cozy cabin was our favorite stay on our Banff/Jasper trip. We enjoyed building a crackling fire in the fireplace and having a nice table to play games at together with mountain views out the window. The location was great--close to Johnston Canyon and not far from Lake Louise/Moraine Lake. The staff was friendly, and check in & out was easy. We appreciated the complimentary bundle of firewood and cookies in the cabin. Would definitely recommend!
Super friendly and professional staff; comfortable bed; adequate kitchenette; free bus pass for use within Banff; nice suite with a great view of mountains; secure underground parking; just far enough from the downtown to give us a brisk walk each time. We had a bit of a hiccup with our reservation, but the hotel went above and beyond to ensure that the issue was resolved and we were well accomodated during our stay.
We travelled USA/Canada for 5 weeks and Canalta Lodge was by far the best value for money. The room is spacious, with lots of floor space for our snowboarding gear. The hotel lobby has a great vibe, with s’mores daily, cosy fireplace, bar and board games. We used the hot tub outside each day after coming back from snowboarding which was awesome. The staff were super friendly and helpful.
We were only 2 guests, so having a queen-sized bed all to yourself was wonderful! The room was very big and spacious, as well as the bathroom. The hotel was only a 5 minute drive away from Banff Town which was convenient. If you don't have a car, they also offer shuttle rides to and from town for convenience and there isn't any need to park your vehicle.
The Banff inn was in a great location to downtown. The hotel was very very clean and the staff was very nice and helpful. The front desk agent made our trip . on arrival she told us a lot of great info on what to do in the area and helped us book our gondola tickets .. the housekeeping were very friendly and the room was exceptionally clean !
The beds were comfy and the balcony was really useful as we had a little one in the room with us so we could spend time outside during nap and evening. For the price in Banff it is an hotel well located. 15 minutes walking from downtown, IGA and a lot of restaurants and trails really near. Liquor store directly in the hotel.
We really like the Moose Hotel because of its location close to downtown Banff. We also really enjoy the two outdoor Hot Tubs on the upper floor. They are pet friendly as well and it was our first trip with our dog and they were very accommodating and provided us with a Dog Bed, Bowls and a treat for him too.
We wanted to explore Banff area for two full days and we were looking for a place in downtown that isn't very expensive. It's great that you can walk from the hotel to Banff avenue. Staff were very pleasant and breakfast was great (nice to see hot food being served instead of packed food!)
The Dorothy Motel is a renovated motel that is very cute. I loved the shower. It is sister hotels with Banff Caribou Lodge just down the street and we were told we could share in their pool/spa facilities. We did not do that, but that would have been nice. Quiet location.
Really like the location of this place. Really close to downtown Banff as well as the Trans-Canada Highway. Staff was friendly, room was spacious and comfortable and they were able to place us next to one another with a large family with 2 rooms side by side.
The room was cozy Not to sound glib but ski hotels are their own thing. They tend to be comfortable and have amenities, but the rooms tend to be small. It was a nice hotel and in a good location in Banff. I got a great price through Booking even for Friday.
Everything is perfect. Ordered and structured as a hotel should be. I was delighted to see a pride flag hanging outside the front window for Banff pride. Sauna is wonderful, and I used the small gym and whirlpool as well.
modern hotel in great location close to all sights, shops and restaurants of downtown banff. although expensive compared to hotels in other destinations, it seems to offer fair value by local standards.
Loved the location and the vibe at the hotel! Just on the end of the Main Street in Banff. So it was a short 15 minute walk to everything! Very cozy vibe with super friendly staff!
I loved how the hotel was walking distance from downtown Banff. And how there was the bridge and Bow River right behind it.
I like how we had fresh towels daily.
