Raul is a bit if a legend in these parts and it’s not hard to see why as he is a real character and a very generous host. Had the pleasure of sharing a few Chcha’s with him including one in the morning before we set out on the walk! Dining area is an interesting space and full of charm.

It is a very nice cottage in the middle of the mountains. Absolutely lovely. You wake up and have amazing view on the mountains. In the morning we went to have breakfast at owners house and it was the best breakfast we had in Georgia. I would go back there again just to enjoy the peacefulness of the place and to have this amazing breakfast.

If you are looking for swanky accommodation, this is not the place for you. If you wish to experience how the locals live in Ushguli, this will tick that box. Our host Enisa ( hope that is right) and her son Jorge both spoke English and answered our many questions about the town and the life style. It was very much off season when we visited so very few places were open. Enisa organised dinner for us at her brothers place , just a short walk away. We asked for a small dinner and were served a huge meal. The food was traditional Georgian and superb. Jorge gave us a tour of the village the next morning and even took my husband up one of the towers. Ushguli was definitely a highlight on our trip round Georgia . Getting to the village was an experience in itself. 10 months of the year, there is only 1 way in and out and the road is in places quite bad but the scenery is spectacular and the people are warm and welcoming. Well worth the effort if you want authenticity
