Kaposvar is very nice and clean.
Kaposvar is very nice and clean. There are a few shops there. We went to an Italian restaurant in the main high street( sorry but I cannot remember the name) It is a small restaurant but the food was very good. The meals were cooked to order. The owner had worked as a chef in Italy for 10 years. Lovely bronze statues in the high street. There are not really many fashion shops in Kaposvar. When you go for a coffee a lot of these cafes also sell delicious icecream. Kaposvar is very pretty and extremely clean with plenty of hanging baskets. We never experienced any trouble at night in Kaposvar. You can walk the streets at night very safely. There is also a Water Flower bath in Kaposvar which attract children and adults. We did not go there though. A cappuccino only costs around 400 Forint which is very reasonable. There is also a Tesco supermarket and McDonalds there. Apart from going for a drink and meal there is not much else to do at night but it is very relaxing there. Unfortunately, not many people speak English there - it is mainly Hungarian and German.

Good regional centre. Beautiful traffic free high street. Cultural centre with concert hall and museum/gallery. See Rippl Ronai house and museum on edge of town. Amazing train journey from Siofok on Balaton. Very slow, but through the most beautiful rural scenery imaginable. A glimpse of Old Hungary!

Well developing little town with lots of interesting museums...
Well developing little town with lots of interesting museums for those who like arts. Famous Hungarian painters (József Rippl-Rónai, Endre Szász) have their museums in the town or around. Our martyr Prime Minister of 1956 Revolution, Imre Nagy was born here. Corso Restaurant in Fő utca and Corner Restaurant are recommended for food lovers. It is worth visiting the Szenna open-air museum. It is a shame that ruins of a Benedictine abbey in Kaposszentjakab are closed. Lots of money was spent there for a renovation

The building itself a bit old, but nicely refurbished, the dining area has a bit outdated decor, but clean and comfortable ! The building is safe, clean and has an elevator which is as handy for carrying heavy shopping or luggage. We found the apartment so clean, comfy and spacious. It has everything you need. Location is great, right in the city center which was very convenient. The flat was confortable for us (a family of 4), very clean and nicely decorated. Kitchen is also fully equipped. Our host was very helpful, we had a little difficulty locating the place because of the way the streets are named in Kaposvar, but a quick phone call to the host fixed this. It is located near to a very photognic bridge that connects 2 sides of a town cut in half by a railway.

A short walk, say 15 mins, from the railway station. While the bathroom was quite small the facility was good, bed was comfy and room for luggage etc.
