Pécs is a lovely place in Hungary with an expansive cultural heritage. The Cathedral, Széchenyi square and Zsolnay quarter are just a few of the must see spots. You can have very good food and wine (or beer) in Király street.
If you're feeling adventurous, Mecsek has the most amazing trails But even if you don't have whole day for hiking just make sure to visit Tettye and walk up to the observatory there.
Pécs is doable by foot most of the times, but has very accessible bus service as well. You can buy tickets on the bus with cash (forint).
Make sure to check the actual events (and book in advance) to experience the street market vibes, when all the best wineries of Hungary and traditional food stalls represent themselves.
See you in Pécs!

Pecs is a terrific little picturesque town with heaps of interesting churches, a mosque, a synagogue, museums and ancient burial sites. Most things are very close by. On Sunday everything is closed except cafes and it's like a ghost town which is good for avoiding hordes of tourists. Pecs is neat as a pin and would probably win a tidy town contest. There's plenty of food places and our favorite was the Korheli pub. I'm glad we chose to stop here for a couple of nights.

Not a crowded city, plenty of things to see.
Not a crowded city, plenty of things to see. Older waiters and cashiers don't really speak foreign languages, even basic stuff was hard to convey to them, so have that in mind. Younger ones are more fluent in that department.

Many of the sights -- the Csontvary Museum, the Cathedral, in particular, are within easy walking distance of the Fonix hotel, where I stayed. The city is the home of a university, so the streets were filled with students and other young people. My trip was a Wednesday day trip by train from Budapest, so other than the main sights and the fact that the performance in the theatre was a one-man show in Hungarian, which I do not speak, I regret not having planned another, full day. The next time I visit Hungary, I'll spend a couple of days in Pécs; for what I saw whetted my appetite for more.

It's a beautiful city, has great restaurants, and quite a few things to do.
There are good places particularly for Italian food and seafood amazingly in this very landlocked city.
Plenty of quirky places to visit such as the cat cafe and the mosque church.

Lots of history in this tiny little town.
Lots of history in this tiny little town.
Beautiful historic downtown with great restaurants, bakeries to die for.
Roman ruins all over Pecs, St. Istvan tee with beautiful cathedral. Underground Roman ruins.
Near by wine country and thermal bath only about 30- 40 min drive.
Lively nightlife , very vibrant, very clean city.
The R73 Residence is a brand new hotel near to the cultural and commercial centre of Pécs. It has a contemporary design, rooms, kitchen space, bathroom are all modern, high quality. Staff, especially Sylvia, is really kind, supportive. They are at the beginning of their learning curve of how to run a hotel, but their willingness to please their guest completes the missing routine skills.
The property was extremely central to the main square of Pécs but down a quiet courtyard where there is no noise at nighttime. The hosts were incredibly responsive and had great recommendations for what to do in the city. We didn’t cook in the apartment but it seems there are enough of the basic utensils to cook if you needed to!
It's in the centre of the Pecs. In walking distance of everything. It's next to Arkad. To Sinagogue and centre of the city you have few hundred meters.
There is a parking on spot, turn right after the hotel.
Breakfast is great.
Staff was great. They speak english.
Big recomendation.
Excellent location in the centre of Pécs. The breakfat was delicious and the staff had very good English skills. I booked a room with view which I highly recommend because of it's exceptional panoara view to the city.
An impeccably clean gem at the top of Pécs rented by an incredible hostess. A house on its own with two distinct spaces outside in the garden to relax. The place offers a calm atmosphere, peace, cosiness and comfort.
