Great views. Great trip. Only disappointment is the blue "lake" in Nakadake Crater. All the pictures show the "lake" while to my understanding it was destroyed during the 2016 earthquake. It was what drawn my attention to this location to begin with, so it was disappointing not seeing it. All these pictures should be replaced with what currently is there, not what used to be there.

Unfortunately access to the crater is still prohibited due to the risk of toxic gases, but the surrounding area is impressive. For those keen on a hard nature walk you can walk up the steep trail of the neighbouring peak and look down into the crater from there. Allow a good half a day or more to do this!
The House was very clean and well kept. The size was suitable for a family of five. I love that there is a washing machine that you can actually use. The compact kitchen and dining area was perfect. The house Itself is located right next to a school so in the morning, there might be some noise but we have kids so we don't mind. Location was great for us as we rented a car so it is very convenient to get to stores and restaurants around there within minutes. We will definitely return if we visit Aso again.
The house is a beautiful traditional Japanese house with a shared onsen bath and a private one that you can book for free. The room is clean and cozy with a window looking out to a Japanese garden. Food was exceptional! We were served homemade miso soup and home grown rice which were absolutely delicious. The meals also include many local ingredients and dishes like horse meat, local beef, trout and seasonal veggies. Highly recommended if you want a traditional ryokan experience 👍
The Japanese-style room was spacious, clean and comfortable.
The property has public hot springs for men and women as well as two private hot springs. Everything you need to enjoy them is provided.
The staff is amazingly patient and hospitable. I was greeted warmly upon arrival and provided with a welcome drink and snack. The staff carried my luggage up the stairs to my room.
I wish I had spent more than one night here and very much look forward to returning in the future.
The hotel is in the golf resort, located near the west Aso mountain. It is about 10 min driving distance from the downtown train station and 30 min from the Aso summit. Great location if you want to seek a quiet and peaceful experience in winter.
Bath hall is at the separate building, the hot spring is definitely a must-visit.
Breakfast and dinner buffet are nice. A little pricy but worthwhile.
The room was spacious for a dormitory type, we were very comfortable during our stay. The room and the whole place feels cozy and felt like you're actually in your own home. It's a wonderful place to stay in Aso which is conveniently located near the station and the place is very clean as well. The staff were great and helpful too! I would stay there again of I ever come back to Aso.
This is a new hotel that is right next to the railroad station and the bus stop from where you can go to mount Aso. Our stay, even though short, was a very pleasant one. There is not restaurant in the hotel, however they do have a nice dining area with microwave oven where you can eat whatever you buy from Lawson just across the road :)
The location is easy to find by driving. The room is spacious and the hotel has the onsen bath. Breakfast spread is decent. There is no nearby convenient store within walking distance. The nearest one is at least about 2-3km away from the hotel. If you want dinner at the hotel, you need to make a reservation in advance before your stay.
The place was very welcome and felt like staying at a Japanese friend's house. We had a really good stay. The host was super supportive. My friend forgot her clothes at the house, but the host helped sending them back to Thailand. We do appreciate her efforts. Thank you for everything. I really recommend this place.
Our room was really comfortable, with a 3Tatami corner and a great view of Aso. They have a lot of Spa options including private onsen and pool which we enjoyed a lot.
They had a collection of Yukata where you could coose to your liking.
Staff was friendly and helpful and also able to help in English.
3 mins walk to Aso station, easily accessible location. love the common area with kitchen in homey design and traditional Japanese style.
clean and tidy shared bathroom and toilets.
lots of sightseeing informations provided in common area.
Recommend to buy discounted coupon for onsen nearby!
Very clean hotel. They put Chinese medicine 川芎 in their onsen which is quite interesting. All the staffs are very helpful. Thanks to Miyuki who can communicate in English so we got info we needed. Do try their dinner and breakfast- It’s an excellent deal and very delicious.
Charming ryōkan (even if iit is a minshuku….) with beautiful private baths. The dinner and the breakfast were both delicious and generous with local specialities. Very convenient to explore Aso and the region. We have been lucky to find a room here.
It was nice to have free onsen to use and buffet with a very large spread. For those who want to experience Japanese style hotel with the family, I would highly recommend!
Nice facilities and located very close to 24hour shop/restaurant, 3 minutes walk from bus stop and 15-20minutes walk from Aso Station and a very nice onsen facility.
