Maizuru Grand Hotel, hotel in Maizuru

Situated in Maizuru, 8.3 km from Maizuru Brick Park, Maizuru Grand Hotel features accommodation with a terrace, private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

My room on the 6th floor was large, luminous, comfy and had great views of the city. This business hotel is a little older and the bathroom less perfect than in most of the chain hotels, but there is nothing to complain about really. Lighting could be better but the reading lights by the beds are perfect. Windows open. Less than 100 meters from the JR station. Spacious lobby.

    The staff was awesome!

The staff was awesome! They did everything in their power to ensure I had a pleasant stay. Room is extremely small by US standards! Room could use a microwave, the only one available was on the ground floor and I was on the 7th.

It is a beautiful area if you are driving.

It is a beautiful area if you are driving. If you do not drive, please do not go. The coast can get you in one line road to amazing places from Amanohashidate on the West to the 5 lakes just crossing the frontier with Fukui on the East in less than 3 hours drive. It is really worth to go!

Maizuru has been a naval port city since the 19th century.

Maizuru has been a naval port city since the 19th century. There is still JMSDF naval facilities in this city and you have access to demonstration of its battleships and naval museum. Street names in this city are derived from naval battleships. Being a port city, you can enjoy various kinds of seafoods such as crabs and mackerels. Toretore Center in the West Maizuru area is one of great shopping markets of such seafoods and sushi. More than that, West Maizuru and Yura area are historic places related to Princess Anju, the fabled daughter of a feudal lord in Aomori who was banished to Kyushu by false charge. A folklore says Anju was visiting her father to save him with her mother and her brother Prince Zushio, and on their way she and Zushio were divided from their mother and taken to this place by human traffickers. She and Zushio were sold to Sansho Dayu, a lord who had a manor around here, and forced to be slaves. One day she let her brother go away from the manor, and then she secretly left the manor too. On her way she died because of fatigue. There is her tomb, the site of Sansho Dayu's manor, the beach Anju worked and the site of a temple Zushio was harbored.
