The staff were welcoming when we arrived and clearly explained all the amenities and how to use them. The cleaning staff also left a cute note in our room. Having access to the onsen and great food was perfect after a day of hiking and exploring.
The clear winner for our stay was the food and onsen. The breakfast buffet and kaiseki meal at supper were amazing!

Best location, near to port, info centre, bus stop, and only "real" supermarket in town. Really liked the Japanese style of the whole house, not justy room. Kotchen spacious and well equipped. Host flexible with check-in.

The hosts are so incredibly friendly and were able to accommodate us arriving early, even having the room ready though we didnt expect that. They were SO helpful in arranging for a rental car as well. We had breakfast one morning too, which was super delicious. They gave us lots of information on things to do and see in Yakushima. Its located on the hill, just five minutes drive from the port so you definitely need a car. It was very quiet and you could see so many stars from the yard. The bed is a traditional futon room, and it was very comfortable. We had amazing weather while there so actually had to turn the air conditioning on a couple times.

The location is good, the Japanese style room is very nice and we enjoyed the option for Japanese futon. Their futon were very comfortable.
Onsen is clean and sauna available too as well as a cold pool. Outdoor onsen had 2 pools to choose from.

Charming minshuku with super helpful staff and very many amenities eg free washing machine and dryer, good onsen, v good meals . My room was spotlessly clean and had a wash basin . The minshuku is about 40 min walk from the port though it’s also on a bus route . There is an Indian restaurant and a large supermarket within easy walking distance .

Our host was very thorough and dedicated and ensured we had all the right logistics pinned down for our hike, bringing us bus timetables and helping us plan based on what we want to see. When we both fell ill with some sort of nasty norovirus he let us extend our checkout time for a small fee, despite the likely inconvenience.
