    Worth the 24 hour journey.

Worth the 24 hour journey. Though I felt a bit motion sick and should have planned better for the boat the stay was well worth it. The ferry there was relatively easy to book - just had to go to the terminal and book there. Arrived at 9am the day of departure boarding started 9:30. The economy sleeping arrangement was a mattress on the floor, a little uncomfortable but for 2 nights bearable. There were other passengers around, very respectful and kind. There was a shop that sold food, snacks and trinkets on board, also several stations with microwaves and vending machines (which sold anything from microwave veggie rice to icecream and beer), there was also a restaurant and a small cafe of sorts that sold cheaper food. You could also bring your own. There were showers with hot water and toilets overall cleanliness was 10/10. The island was positively beautiful. I arrived mid February and at least 2/4 of my days on the island had summer temperatures. If youre in the water for longer than 30 minutes youre bound to see a whale or dolphins. Coral wreath snorkelling available on many beaches but the best experience was on Sakaiura Beach where you can explore an underwater ship wreck. It is not so deep you have to dive, you can do it comfortably with snorkelling gear! There are many fish and even some small sharks to see! Many tours offer kayaking on the ocean another highly recommended activity. Many beautiful places to hike - with breathtaking views, unique flora and fauna. An experience worth every penny and every hour thrown about by the sea. I will be back one day. There are many restaurants and cafes on the Island with various cuisines so you never lack for variety. Recommend trying the island sushi - it was delicious.
