Beach and Fun in Penang
Batu Ferringhi is a combination of a beach resort packed with modern hotels and a tropical Asian paradise. Located in the Penang area of northern Malaysia, it is one of the biggest resorts of its kind in the country. Restaurants, shopping centres and numerous modern services and facilities are also available, along with its well-known ‘Pasar Malam’ or Night Market.
The strip along Jalan Batu Ferringhi Street is the main service area, and you’ll find a large variety of hotels on the beach, apartments and guest houses. The area can be divided in three different zones: Tanjung Bungah to the east, Batu Ferringhi itself, and the quieter Teluk Bahang to the west. Check the hotels map to see which area is the most convenient for you.
Things to do in the surroundings include the ‘Butterfly Farm’, home to a collection of thousands of beautiful specimens; and the ‘Spice Garden’, which features a lush landscape with a large variety of herbs and spices. The town is located only 16 km from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town’s historic centre.
It can be reached by bus, or via a 45-minute flight from Kuala Lumpur to Penang Airport. Before enjoying the sun and fun of Batu Ferringhi, don’t miss the accommodation deals available on Booking.com!

This is a rather conservative (no alcohol served or allowed, except in rooms) family-oriented facility that is somewhat isolated with limited food and entertainment facilities. The better rooms have wonderful sea views that are perhaps the highlight of the place, along with the colorful “Balinese” color schemes inside the rooms and outside of the buildings. This is not a “beach” resort, since there is only a beach at Low tide and that is very narrow and rocky. I booked the room after a hectic three-week trip to Thailand and Malaysia, in order to chill out before heading home. However, the daytime and evening noise levels at the facility and my room’s thin walls made chilling out very difficult. I would advise anyone contemplating staying here to request a room away from the pools and the restaurant. It happened unbeknownst to me that I booked for the final days of the Chinese New Year, and that may have generated the noise levels since the place was packed with families with children (I was traveling solo, and as far as I could tell, I was the only solo traveler at the facility).

The location , beach and ambience were great.
The location , beach and ambience were great. We stayed at the Park Royal Hotel. It was lovely, staff were helpful and always smiling.
We really enjoyed our stay. We ate at Grand Lebanon Restaurant, the food was delicious and service was great at the restaurant.
We also ate at the Enca restaurant (Indian Cuisine) and enjoyed the food which was excellent value for money and delicious.
We picked up some souveniers at the Batu Ferringhi night market also.

The gardens at the bay view were maintained beautifully and the cleaners never seemed to stop around the pool and restaurant area although it was requested that people did not enter wet. Well what can I say???

Batu Ferringhi is basically a strip of hotels/resorts along the main road with some restaurants, shops, massage places and night market along the road as well. Apart from visiting the beach, enjoying the pool area at your hotel, there is not much to do. Beaches are not the best, while we were there, there were signs to watch out for stingers, so we did not go in the water. The local grab drivers told us for nice beach holiday go to Langkawi instead.

I realy recommend this place
As a frequent traveller to penang we decided to give a try to this hotel at bahang bay and booked 2 seaview rooms which was excellant. Overall clean comfy room and nice ambience. Bed and bedding excellant. Nice beach to relax. Nice infinity pool ovelrooking the sea. Buffet breakfast has good variety and taste nice. We were greeted upon arrival by very welcoming friendly guest serving attendents. Housekeeping staff also friendly and greets. Snooker table at the Jamboree was a hit with my teenage boys.
I stayed at the Lone Pine to use the pool and the beach. They did not disappoint me! I was able to do my daily swim and sun and relax, with no hassles.
I also really like the rooms with balcony and sea view. The design of the rooms is clever, with sliding doors giving privacy. Unusual!
Lone Pine is a boutique hotel, and I like the size and ambience so much better than a roaring huge resort hotel.
We enjoyed our 3D2N stay with Shangri-La Golden Sands at Penang! Staff are friendly and helpful. Room is spacious with king bed and it's clean. Breakfast is good and yummy as well. We also enjoyed the pool and sunset view in this resort. We definitely will come back to stay again! Food at Sigi's Bar & Grill on the beach is delicious with nice sunset view. We love it!
This is the 3rd time we stayed at Bayview. Room is spacious and clean. They have upgraded their tv to smart tv👍.
Kids like the pool and the beach at the most.
We don't take hotel breakfast time since there are a lot of choices nearby the hotel. But we did try the laksa and dinner promotion, which we can give it at 4/5 stars.
Beautiful hotel with great views out to the sea.
Very clean, staff were great, thanks for the towel animals Pradeep!
Good base to head to Penang Hill or George Town then come back late afternoon to enjoy the pool and sunset.
Can head to bars/restaurants on the beach in either direction, we enjoyed Frandies.
Large, grand resort with amazing service from staff. We were able to check in early without even asking beforehand, the concierge also helped by taking our bags to our room in advance. Room was massive! Pool was fab and the hotel is set just off from a beautiful beach in Batu Ferringhi.
The two-bedroom family room was fantastic, with ample space for four. The restaurants in the resort - an Asian hotel and an Italian hotel - were very good and reasonably priced. The staff was extremely warm and helpful. Though the resort was not huge, it was well maintained and clean.
Excellent customer service and super friendly staffs. We had an amazing time spent at Hard Rock Hotel Penang. The lounge access made it convenient for our family with young kid. Truly enjoyed all the facilities at this kids friendly hotel.
Seriously this is the best hotel i've been stayed in
Penang! The room is very clean and so so so

- Executive Lunges was very good too.
- The hotel is Big and open to the beach
Location is good. About 4 mins walk to the beach and markets & eateries close to the hotel. Very spacious room. It has a nice view. Comfortable bed. TV, AC and hot water works.
cheap book through booking. co, clean rooms, there is a mosque in front of the hotel, other facilities are nearby, close to the beach and good service from the staff.
Beautifully appointed apartment in the heart of Batu Ferringhi. Located across from the beach. The owners also checked in on us during our stay which was appreciated.
Lovely tastefully furnished hotel with a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff were extremely pleasant, offering advice to make our stay in Penang more enjoyable.
Kinda shock because it is a decent budget hotel. The room is really really clean. Air kat toilet laju. The staff are friendly. Ada coway and ironing section.
